When racing, Auto or SS????

Hi, I just joined the board about 2 weeks ago and it has been great, just sayin hello to all of you. Anyways, I would like your opinions on this subject. When racing should you keep it in Auto or throw it in SS?? And if it happens to be auto, should you throw it in D3 or D4?? any info is appreciated. thanks

I say always in SS. This allows you to run the extra couple of hundred rpm in 2nd and 3rd gear before shifting. Instead of shifting at 6900 in auto mode, you can push it right up to 7200 in SS. This is especially useful in extracting extra power from the headers.

P.S. How could you forget to turn VSA off when you raced the guy in the 300ZX? I raced essentially the same car before and I was able to beat it.

Not the best conditions to start with and it just didn't strike me to turn VSA off. I usually do but this time i just forgot. I know i can beat him. I felt it right away when i punched the gas. next time when we are ready to REALLY race, i will have my VSA off for sure. Anymore info and opinions on the SS or auto racing technique will be appreciated. THANKS.

5% tint all around, 18 inch Konig Caffeine's and soon i will hopefully get Comptech springs.

When you punch it to begin a race try and get used to the launch so you get just a little wheelspin and a smooth transition to foward acceleration. Too much or too little wheelspin will hamper your launch. When I get it just right I can really launch the car pretty hard.

SS all the time.
VSA on/off - depending on the opponent.
