When to do timing belt on our 2nd Gen CL type S ??

I am hitting 90k miles now and running on original belt. I was wondering when do I need to change?

I heard about 120k miles, is it true?

It's 105K miles or 7 years for the timing belt:

I would do it right now. I received a recall notice about a year ago for it so I took it in right away.

I'm in the same position on our 1999 TL-P. Eventhough the recommended interval is 105K, I'll definitely do before I hit 100K to take advantage of the extended warranty we have on the car. I know that the timing belt is not covered but if they come across any other items that need to be replaced, they'll cover under warranty. For example, if the water pump shows any signs of leakage, it'll be covered under warranty. If not, I'll still have them swap it out under my dime. Same for Cam Seals, Crank Seals, tensioner, etc.

I had my 90k and 105k service done at the same time recently, the timing belt is part of the 105k service. Also, they will change the other belts at the same time.

My dealer said replace the water pump whether it's good or not--Seems that's a cheap part but the labor to reach it is outrageous-so if your doing the timing belt always do the water pump TOO>

how difficult is the job to replace a timing belt?
Is this something that I could ask a local garage?
I could buy OEM belt, and do the work elsewhere?

the job is not hard just time consuming, if you know of a local shop that deals with imports and does it most of the time then yeah you could do that it will save in labor. now for the parts maybe not because if you bring your own parts you get no warranty, but most belts are really good, i say any goodyear belt is just as good if not better then a OEM belt. i would use the parts they use because if say the belt breaks or they screw up the install and it ruins your motor they have to pay for a new motor.

yeah, I have a buddy who has his own garage. He is not a top of the line mechanic, but he is honest and does a good jobs if he says he can do something. One time I had a problem and he told me straight up that he does not feel comfortable fixing that . Its better to be honest then to agree to something and then fuk things up.
I would imagine that changing timing belt on 3.2 CLS is a standard procedure that is very similar to Honda Accord?

yeah they are about the same, make sure he takes a look at everything while he is there like the tensioner, all the seals and all that its easier to change them at that point then having to tear it down after the fact.
