when to change tranny fluid

well, got another contradictory information from my local dealer. I was dropping my wife's RDX to service, and asked briefly one of the guys "when does dealership recommend changing tranny fluid on 2001CL", he first did not know. Another "smart" adviser said "just look in your owners manual". To which I said "you really think 90K miles is proper time, because this is what the manual says?" He said nothing.
Then he went and looked into some old folders/documents (I guess our cars are old by now LOL), and then he was like, every 15K miles. So from 90K it dropped to 15K, pretty funny. I would not even be surprised that they already forgotten that 2001-2003 CL/TL have transmission problems. I did not say nothing, just little less than a year ago when I had my transmission replaced and I was all over asking another service adviser when to change fluid to make sure it gets ultimate protection, he assured me that he supposedly got some info from honda, and that it should be every 30K miles, not less than that.
what a bunch of crap... theses jokers are giving you conflicting information, so basically it means that you should do whatever you think is right.

I've come to the conclusion that these techs have no idea what they are doing on jobs out of the ordinary day to day, especially on cars like the CL which aren't very common. Even though its the exact same car as the best selling TL.

Just like when I had a compression test on my car after getting the engine rebuilt, I had 150 in a cylinder and the guy told me that was good. I told them that isn't the baseline suppose to be higher like around 240 and he said, "no, i haven't even seen diesel engines with compression that high" What a bunch of BS.

yeah, the least they should do is to agree among themselves what to recommend. When I go to authorized Acura dealer, I expect professional and consistent recommendation, not a range from 15-90

wow man that's TERRIBLE. those techs are straight fools.

Around where I live the Acura DLRs are pretty knowledgeable. Matter of fact, one I became friends with and has helped me MULTIPLE times for random concerns I may have and also in my dire moments, linked me up with another guy who did my tranny, when HIS own dealership that he worked for wouldn't do any better than 4300 or 5300 I cannot recall. but yea I saved thousands.

So not all of those techs/DLRs are cursed. maybe I got lucky, maybe some of you got unlucky..

It's really luck of the draw when it comes to a DLR working on ur car.

At Erin Mills Acura.. if I go there I always request the same person to work on it :-)

and if it's a diagnosis I drive over and get my buddy/tech, coffee so he'll drop what he's doing for a second and then tell me what/if anything is up.

honestly u gotta just get a DLR with one good tech... go for a test drive.. (tell the DLR u need to show the tech what the problem is and you want whoever is most knowledgeable with CLs/TLs). 3/4 of these guys do work on the side. if they do get their number and then ur set.
