when is the best time to sell
when is the best time to sell
I was wondering when is it the best time to sell a car? (Acura CLS in this case).
Another words, what is the most optimal number of years you should keep your car before selling it and getting something else?
Depreciation curve is not linear, and there might be the best time to sell at some point. Is it 7 years(lets say 100K miles)?
Or is it better to drive your car till it fall aparts?
I am talking about pure $$$ economy.

I know some 01s are going for $18-20K. That's bad. I say if you want the most $ out of it, the sooner the better.
There's a lot of competition, the car is not that popular, and most other cars do not have the tranny issues. I'd sell now or keep it long-term.
For your question moneywise, either sell a new car in 1-2 years or keep it forever. You lose the most value when you buy new-
the 2nd, 3rd, 4th years. esp when the warranty is up.
Before, I always bought a 2-4 year old car for one half the original cost. let someone take the 50% hit on a new car after 3-4 years.

I am gonna try to keep my CLS as long as I can, until it starts sucking up to much money.... it is already paid off, so every month I drive I can save money rather than pay them for a new car loan.
next time do not buy new car... buy 2-3 years old and drive it to 200kmiles. however, you missed driving a new carand by 120kmiles the car has full depericated.
BTW, anyone know how many miles the engine of those 19-wheels trailers run? ANy how many times Oil or let us regualar service is done?

Anyone think I can get $22K for my 01 CLS red/ebony with only 25K miles on it? Perfect condition with factory spoiler and tint?
Kelly says 21,870 (21,750 without the spoiler so my factory spoiler which cost me almost a grand is only worth 100 bucks now??).

So assuming you bought a new car, its probably better to keep it to 200K miles or until you start spending more $$$ on repair than paying monthly payments for a new car.
