When adding springs

When I put on Comptech springs, is an alignment required/a good thing to do/ not needed at all?

Thanks

Yes. A 4-wheel alignment is needed. Don't let anyone tell you any different.

dont be silly....alignment with comptech springs is NOT needed...thats one of the selling points of the comptech springs...they have a CONSERVATIVE drop that does not require an alignment....ive had my comptech springs on for 7,000 miles...didnt get an alignment after install, STILL havent gotten an alignment..car is aligned PERFECTLY....ive CLOSELY inspected tires at 2 oil changes AND during header install and tires are showing NO signs of uneven wear WHATSOEVER. dont buy into the hype...skip the alignment, save some cash, its definately not needed.

Changing/lowering a car, you should get an alignment.. Might want to wait for a few hundred miles for possible "settle"..

DO THE ALIGNMENT !!!!!

There are a few people here who didn’t and their tires wore out unevenly.
A 50-Dollar alignment is cheaper then two (or four) new tires that need to be replaced prematurely.

You might get lucky like Jim, but odds are they’re going to loosen up the car when installing the springs.
And by the time you find out its too late.

Your toe will be hosed at a minimum. Get it aligned.

Rule of thumb..

Always check your alignment when you mod your suspension!!

JIM... and everyone...

YES. You SHOULD get an alignment. You may or may not NEED to... but for best results an alignment can only do better.

Jim... what you DONT need is a camber kit. That is the selling point.

Everyone with the exception of jimcol711 is right, you should do the alignment, lowering and modding the suspension is not just changing parts it's making sure that it fits together properly and hasn't effected anything else abnormally (in the event your car is older or something). A good analgoy is: changing your camshafts and then not getting your engine dyno'd, what's the point then of changing your camshafts if your not going to tune it?

You should get it aligned to ensure that your toe isn't messed up and to make sure that you won't have uneven tire wear.

whatever guys...youd think that after 7,000 miles if the Toe was off so bad as you guys seem to think it inevetably will be, i would be seeing some uneven wear?? i dunno, im sticking by my statement. like i said i had the springs put on at 3000 miles, had them inspected by my mechanic during an oil change at 4,000 miles and about 8,000 miles and then i, along with a few freinds, took a good look at them just a 2 months ago during the header install, again, seeing absolutely no signs of uneven wear....im due for an oil change in early january, and ill check them again, but again, im not seeing where the problem is supposed to show up??? actually, you know what, i think im gonna go ahead and have my mechanic throw her up on the alignment rack and check it out, just to show you guys that its not out of spec with the comptech springs...ill be sure to get detailed info, ill be going in a few days after new years. ill be sure to also take pics of the tires. this will be an interesting test.

Hey jimcol711

We aren't saying after you lower a car you have to get the camber kit, we're just saying it's good to CHECK the alignment. that's all. no harm in being safe especially when your playing with a $30K car. If the alignment shows you need the camber kit then you do, if not then your okay. But it's just a check to make sure the alignment is ok. That's all.

"The exception proves the rule"

As others have said -- $50 for an alignment is cheaper then prematurely replacing 1 tire later on. It's just an alignment -- we're not talking about an engine overhaul. Why should there even be any discussion?
