Wheel Offset

Hey all. I'm new to the board, so please no chastising if this has been discussed.

I went thru hell and back to get 18s on my 00 TL (the only way without rubbing was 42mm offset MHTs with 225 tires and rolled rear fenders).

Well, I don't want to go thru that again. What are my options for the CL-S? Is the offset the same as the TL? Anyone successfully put 18s on theirs? Pics?

ps the pic board need some help. I know your car looks great, but I think we know what stock wheels and tint looks like

You suggest that we put a bunch of ricer stickers and shitty looking spoilers along with nasty body kits? Or maybe we should go out and by new 18s that will decrease performance and end up lowering the resale value of the car. I think you need to take a look at what kind of car this is.

Did you look at the link to my old car? Does it look like the car you described?

Do you think the CL-S has plenty of power to overcome an 18inch wheel?

Do you think the sound system you added to your car decreases performance by adding weight?

The point is, everyone has their preferences in a car. The question is how far it's taken.

I guess what I am wondering is why you would come one a board and be a newbie and even think of saying anything about how things are.

Not sure why you reference a bong. Seems as if you know all about smoking. Why don't you give me a clue.

Well, that wasn't my intention.

Perusing the pic forum, I found a pic of a stock maxima, a chevy suburban, and mostly CLs looking very much like my own car. So I guess I was hoping to spark some conversation.

I logged on to your web site to get something beyond the Acura.com site. That doesn't mean an 8 foot wing and a chrome gas cap; just subtle differentiation.

I'm stoked this site was started long before I bought my car (just this past Tuesday!).

I hope my position isn't seen as confrontational, but constructive.

I think it seemed very out of line but what the hell I am not going to sit here and bicker with you. I welcome you and I hope you have something worth wild to bring to this board.

Handle has nothing to do with weed or smoking it. If you had been on this forum long enough you would have know that.

I'm going to go now and read your 396 posts so I can understand what WebToker means.

In the mean time, does anyone know what the wheel offset of the CL-S is?

Seems to me that all he was trying to say was that there are a bunch of "stock" photos posted on this site (which is true) and he's interested in seeing more mod stuff (in the photos section). I agree with him, that's why you don't see any photos of my ride on this site, how boring.

Welcome to the board, jaybee!

I guess you guys need to get to modding for us so we can have better pictures ;-)

In response to your original question... the offset of the stock wheels is 55. I put on some 18" BBS RK's (and 225/40/18 tires) with 42 offset and there are no problems with rubbing. I've heard 235's will rub.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like it's the same as the tl. Damn. In response to an earlier question, the wheels on the link above are MHT V-10s. Great, strong wheel. Comes in a variety of offsets; commonly seen on Lexus GS tuners.

No, they're 18 x 7.

I didn't lower the TL. Been through that before. It's a lot of maintenance for little reward. And on this point I agree with WebToker- it devalues the vehicle. Selling/trading a car with a modified suspension is a chore. Since so many people out there have it done the wrong way (cutting springs, replacing springs but not shocks/struts, etc) it casts doubt on the integrity of the car. So you end up having to put it back to stock or letting the car go for less $$$.
