Unhappy Wheel Hop Problem

I have a pretty bad problem with wheel hop on hard launches and would appreciate any advice to reduce the problem. The other day it was so bad that my sunglasses (from the holder by the visor) ended up in the back seat. I do not pop the clutch, but let it out till it engages and then go gradually to WOT.

I have the OEM shocks... would better shocks help? I am running Toyo TPTs on stock rims... would better tires help?

Suggestions please...

I'm stock, and the only way around wheel hop that I've found is to not launch too hard.

Is this problem worse for the 6 speeds? I never really noticed it on my 5AT and I had the same mods. I also had really good tires on my auto (ES 100s) so maybe that helped hook it up a little better. I really despise the Toyo TPTs that i inherited with this car.

I've only had a 6spd, and I'm running Yokohama Avid V4's on the front now (oem's in the rear). The tires helped reduce the hop a little, but I've learned to just keep the rpm's low on launch.

it is all throttle response... when you have as many mods on a 6-CL-S as I do, you really have to learn how to control your urge to smash the throttle to the floor until the timing is just right..... from a roll the car is pretty exciting...

Thanks guys... Smitty... I don't know how you keep the front end on the ground with all the mods you have. Must be pretty wild! Bet you could start in 2nd and get a good launch.
