wheel fitment question

if i were to purchase 19x8.5 wheels with a +45mm offset, would these fit?

if so, what size tires would i need?

i suppose im not fully convinced that 19x8 is the widest our cars can go, can someone help?

thanks in advance.

for a cl-s, kinda large in width. and 45mm offset is OK but not ideal. rubbing in the rear is almost inevitable. are you talking about the A-Spec wheels?

i have 19x8 +48 with 225/35's and it barely clears. i dont even think i could put 235's on without rubbing. you'd be pushin it with 8.5 and +45...especially if you get a camber kit for the rear

I wouldn't go past 8" with any offset.

The question is not just a matter of fitting. The more serious issue is the ride and potential damage to the wheels and tires. At 19", your tire size would have to be 30 to 35 in height, and at this height the ride would be so stiff and uncomfortable. Also it is very easy to rupture the tires and damage the wheels when you hit a pot hole
