Well, it's all preference. I just prefer to use a CD burner and make some CD's when I'm that bored with radio.

Yeah, XM is $9.99, and there are 30 music channels with no commercials, and you get digital quality. The sony receiver costs $299 and you can use it either in the car or even at home. Seems like a pretty good idea to me.

XM Radio was started by a guy that is well known in the music circles. He has amassed quite a bit of software. There are no commercials. My company, Sharp, is a licensee of the technology. It went live right around Sep 11 so you can understand there was not much of a fanfare. Cross country truckers will love it. There are many, many channels. It works on the same basis as a cross between GPS and cell phones. Since there is no back transmission from car to satellite it is not as critical as a cell phone. The quality is excellent and before you condemn it you should see what the programming is going to offer. They have put a lot of non aired stuff in the can from some big recording stars. The fee is $9.99 a month for starters and as they get subscribers it will probably come down. JMO and $.03.

There are two companies in this market: XM and Sirius. From what I remember reading, one is going to have more commercials and a lower monthly fee while the other will have many stations that are commercial-free but charge a higher monthly fee.

Buy an MP3 player and burn 3 CDs...that's about 300 hours of listening...
