Whats up with Aftermarket Headlights

I've been reading that there are alot of CL'ers that are changing thier headlight to aftermarkerts. Why?
I mean I can understand the basic idea, brighter. But is that all there is to it. The factor lights are pretty nice so what is out there that could be better that what comes factory.
Give me some reasons, examples, and sugestions that would make me want to switch.

your talking about the bulb right? that's because the highbeams are halogen and shines yellow. as for headlight housing I don't think anyone makes an aftermarket one yet.

I believe their are changing their hi-beam bulbs to match the hids when they are using the hi-beams lites. There's no advantage, just looks, IMO.

Someone posted that their car wouldn't pass inspection, until the factories were put reinstalled. Then the third party bulbs where put back-in.

I replaced the interior lights (Map, door and dome) as well as the front road lamps. Polarg M6 were the ones used in the roadlamps, Polarg M4 for the doors and map lights and Polar M16 for the dome light. I ordered from www.orexmotorsports.com and they seem to be the cheapest out there. I paid 5 dollars for a pair of M4's, 5.50 for each M6 and 9 dollars for the pair of M16's. Shipping is 5 bucks flat from them, so look to spend about 35 bucks doing those listed lights.

Hella: Where is a good place to order the Solaris 9005's for our highbeams through? They are terribly expensive everywhere I looked and every local dealer around here looks at me with this stupified face when I ask about them.

Tell you the truth, I dunno. I haven't replaced my high-beams as I really never use them and given the cost, I can't justify switching them out.
