Whats the process CL-S

Im not really doing a conversion at the moment but im curious if i would want to do a conversion from a CL-P to a CL-S 6spd what is the process. Like I would need the 6speed tranny, but would i need to do a type-s engine swap too. If im wrong correct me and if you can go ahead and slap me with the prices.

Step 1 - Sell CL-P
Step 2 - Buy CL-S6

Don't forget all the interior parts you would need like new gauge cluster, cup holder, pedals and all the other stuff.

I want a 6 speed so bad but unless a miracle happens a conversion is way out of my price range

OMG thats crazy to hell with that. certain member keep telling me go a swap but im better off selling the car than swapping because all those parts are more than what i payed for the car.

Well what about a tune? Is anyone tuned here i heard that there is also a big gain with a loss of MPG.

^^^ I wasn't trying to be an ass in any shape or form. It's just the truth. The amount of tweaking you'll have to do to make it a true type-s is hard to say "worth" it. Cause for all that time and money you could have a cl-s modded.

If I am not mistaken there are about 20ish maybe a few more modifications a type s has over the cl-p (not all horse power related) but still.

A quick list off the top of my head.

Engine, tranny, full exhaust, ecu, suspension (pretty sure), sway bars, seats (pretty much full interior), gauge cluster, shift knob and I am sure I am missing a bunch more.

Price wise it could be a 3 grand it could be 7 grand. depends if u do work urself, or need a shop to do it, and depends on the deal u come across.

Then all the headaches with this massive rebuild basically.

so that's why i said buy a CLS6 instead. It'd cost you a lot less

im in the middle of getting the swap done, but all i gotta say is dont do it unless you have the time and money for it. I already have all the parts needed, just no time. my car's been sitting for over a month now.

the sub frames are different on automatics and 6-speeds, so im' swapping those too. the reason why is because the car will be turbo'd eventually and i can use the extra mounts.

i'm doing it the right way and switching out everything on the car, all the wire harness in the engine bay also. the abs motors are different on both cars, but i havent gotten to that part yet so i dont know if the connectors are the same or not.

after its done, u wont be able to tell if this car was ever an automatic.

i cant give you a price because i'm not keeping tab on how much i'm spending. the only thing i can tell you is that the parts car costed almost 3gs. on top of that i got the timing belt done plus what ever has to be replaced (that was bad) and i have to pay the labor to get the motor in and out. i'm doing rest of the labor.

Unless I missed it, no one that I seen posted has swapped a CL 6 speed into a CL or CLS auto. Everyone I seen posted was either an Accord or a TL.

Seriously though, if you really want a 6MT, save around ~ $5k, sell your CL-P for ~ $6k, and use that money to buy a 6MT. The go for around $10k now.

It doesnt make sense to pour that much money in the car and spend all that time just to say you did it.

that I would also have to agree with... CL-Ps are underrated..

my moms got the cl-p in 2001 in blue sooo sexy... and that's how i fell in love with the car.

We use to have a ford taurus wagon GREEN, with greenish interior...POS then we bought the CL brand new 1 year old and it was like a rocket in comparison....

Still a great whip, and for w/e it's worth you have a more rare car cause it's a cl-p.

FYI I use to take my moms car out at night and race my buddys..

I Beat: Mercedes Benz C230 kompressor 6 speed
Volvo V70 R auto, I SHIT U NOT!!!! i dunno how but the cl-p thing pulled!
Volvo s60 2.5 T

a few other cars I forgot (it was 6-7 years ago)

Probably had more fun in the CL-P then than I do now with my cl-s modded up... lol awwwww good times

OH and Get a UR pulley from option.... you are missing some cheap fun!!! 10 hp and 10tq for like $80 including new gatorback belts

They are both relatively rare, no one bought them when new.

cost me around 1200 to swap my engine (did the labor myself) a lot cheaper than going out and buying a tl-s you just have to shop around

6 speed coming next year

Why not what?

Why didn't anyone buy them? Its the same reason people dont buy Acuras today. Marketing. That and it isnt what the market wants.

if you lived in canada you'd see acura is frigging SWAMPING the market..

At least in the GTA and southern ontario... that I've seen.

Like w/e they make sells it doesn't make sense. But I do see Acura has a perfect niche now that they've clearly established themselves as a competitor with brands like BMW, LEXUS, infinity.

Think about it... when the TL-p and S came out that was the BEST CAR for the $ period.... those things were and still are everywhere! then the g35 came out to compete, and other mid size luxury cars with 250ish hp from other brands. 350z, m3 (more hp but still)etc ?? acura sent the bar back then and have been on their game ever since. for the $ it's hard to look elsewhere.

What?

Acura has lost its identity. Im not going to go on and on with my rant because I dont want to take this thread off topic, but Acura is not amongst such rivals as BMW, Lexus, and Infinity. Ito even came out about a week ago and said hes taking the brand back to the drawing board. Tier 1 isnt working out for them, and they dont seem to want to return to a Sports/Luxury automaker. He even went so far as to say that Acura will not be releasing anything new in the next few years, save the ZDX and the TSX wagon.
