I've thought about trading in the car many times. It could be the cheapest and easier way out, but I love my car. I've invested a great deal of time into it. And to appreciate it more, is to give it new life with a manual swap.
So...back to the list, am i missing anything?

You will also need the frame cross members along with the additional engine mounts. Don't forget about the reason why they moved the seat heater switches which would also be needed.
Oh yea, your headers will not be able to be used so they will need to be replaced.
Seriously, it will end up costing more to do this than it would to trade for a 6-Speed. And that is not factoring the hassle and head ache which will arise.
You also forgot the ECU wiring harness. There is more that is slipping me right now.

The 6 speed also has a LSD upfront and no VSA like the automatic. This means your front axle would need to be swaped out as well. Also you would need all new guages as the Tach on the 6 speed is different.

I'd equate a tranny swap like this to a car with a salvage title (no matter how well the work was done). If I was looking to buy, I would not walk away from a converted CLS 6spd, I would run

You don't even have any "power mods" done. With the amount of $$ it'll cost to swap a 6 speed in you could have just about the entire Comptech Catalog for our car INSTALLED.

Why do you have such a strong desire to do this seemingly impossible task?
Get I/H/E. That for sure will give it a "new life"
I can just see this thread getting locked by the end of the day.

This has been proposed MANY times since the 6-Speed came out.
I think the only way it could be done is by someone who is EXTREMELY experienced with working on tranny’s and the accompanied electronics.
Plus you would need to get the parts from a “donor car” that was wrecked.
Buying new parts as you can see is very cost prohibitive.
One guy I work with did this on a 97 Mustang GT two years ago.
It works, but still doesn’t run 100% right.
He has all kinds of electronic gremlins that keep coming up and that car was a whole lot less complicated then the CL-S is.
If you want a 6-Speed just bite the bullet and trade like ME and several others here have done.

i have a strong desire because there's always a possibility for new things. and having people ragging on the cl because it's "slow" or lacks the potential to be a quick luxuary car [compared the to bmws, benz] that's what motivates me to give hope for others in interest.
Get the S/C with other Comptech bolt ons and no one is going to say your CL is "slow".
The CL isn't going to be the fastest car out on the road. But if you have the $$ you can be on the of the fastest CL's on the road. And in my book that is more important.
I don't go to the track to beat everyone there. I go to the track to see what MY car can do and achieve my personal best for MY car.

if you want custom, drive to LA and have allmotor turbo your car.
Not ever wanting to add one more reason to an already ridiculous idea...but... assuming this was able to be done , is the car "Legal"?? In other words since the title/VIN# info will not match with the ""New"" car ??
if this tranny doesnt hold up, then hopefully the warranty will cover it. if not, then i'll just look for a used 6speed in the future.
car's legit and clean. "new" would refer to tranny, not car,... right?

Man, you're better off trading it in for a 6-speed.
1. "Real" 6 speed
2. Warranty. Your warranty is going to be void if you try this, guarnteed. Hope you have a good relationship with your Acura mechanic because you will be a regular.
3. Resale 2x as bad as it is now, bet you a dealer wouldn't even take it on a trade in. Private buyers aren't going to touch it either. You might as well make your project car into some type of watercraft.
4. Title problems.
5. Purchase of all the actual parts, and the pain in the ass to TRY and put everything in and make it work. You are going to have to cut, and customize, rewire, what a headache.
6. You are bound to have problems long after the install.
7. Your friend who's going to help you probably won't be your friend anymore.
At least you won't be able to say everyone on the forum didn't tell you so.

it says right in there on pg. 54 : "Do not attempt to turn this vehicle into a much sought after & desired 6 speed"

B.T.W. the best way to do this would be to find a rear end totaled CLS-6.
Could be done 50% cheaper than the numbers I see on here. But I wouldn't even try doing this job.
I'd go buy a car IMO worth dumping that much $$ into modding to the 300+ hp range. A FWD near luxury sport coupe isn't my cup of tea, nor is the drivetrain happy with 300+ WHP. The bolt on mods for the CLS give it the extra edge you need to play with the general population...
lol, run into a boosted IS300 and just put your tail between your legs man. Even if you have every Comptech mod on your CLS. Even if you have Scalberts car, you'd need ghetto looking slicks sticking out of the fender wells to hook-up off the line. Be cool at the strip, but just stupid on the street.
lol, re-read my post. Just for clarification. Slicks sticking out of the wheel wheels driving down the road would look stupid. Not scalberts car! lol
My english skills are the bomb!
Just for kicks I went and looked up most of the prices at the bone yard for the swap.
It came out to about $4k. Not including shipping, and that was the bare bottom low prices I found. Obviously you don't need shipping if you can find one local.
It'd be cool if you could find a local rear totaled CLS-6. And just go the the yard and spend the day stripping what you need. They might give a discount if you take it all at once. I'd take the engine too, make it a 3.5L while your at it /w lower compression pistions.... but why.... screw it... Mount the other engine in the rear!
Dual engine CLS /w 4WD
Even if you just left the engines stock you'd technically have 500hp. hehe (round abouts) and no traction worries. Now that's a projec worth persuing!
Be interesting to see that shifting linkage eh? I think I'd leave it automatic at that point to make things easier.
And if you think about it... it'd be OK if one of the trannys blew. You could always drive home on the other. LMFAO
