Friend of mine is going to buy a car tomorrow. He is pretty set on the g35c, but with the navi package its up around $37,000. Seems a little expensive to me. If your price range is $30,000 to $35,000 what car would you get?

I'm telling him to look at a low mileage used gs400...tl-s would be nice too...
I think he really wants a 2 door though, since he has only had 4 doors since he was 16.

Since you mentioned the G35C I'll guess coupe

I'd say in that price range, the G35C.
I think there are only a couple of other coupe options in that price range RX-8, Accord ex V6, BMW 325, Solara and with out dipping to far into the domestic offerings the Mustang (due for a redesign).
Oh, and if he only needs 2 seats there's the 350Z.

lou- with all that equipment in it that would be a pretty sweet deal...but he definately wants new....so there goes the gs400 idea.
guess hes going to get the g35c with navi package. real nice car...if I put comptech headers on my cl-s I think we will be just about even in speed.

New car = Financial mistake
Unless he likes to lease...
Used car market is hot right now...
Just saw a used G35c auto for $32K...w/Navi...that's $5K below retail and it's only got 6K miles.

P.S. I also found 12 NSX's within 50 miles of my zip earlier today...(all that NSX talk from yesterday, etc).
He'd be crazy to buy new with so much out there in the used market.

I would take a used S4 or wait for the new TL! how much is the 300 Ci? thats a nice car. i personally dont like the gs400 too much i dont know im not a lexus fan personally except for the sc model.
G35 coupe is a great idea but not if your gonna go auto! youll prolly have to wait for a 6spd. I dont think his insurance should be too high if hes 23 though. as long as he has a clean driving record. and being married helps too..lol

Too many choice. I would consider G35 sedan/coupe, IS300 sedan/wagon, TSX with navi, S2000, Accord EX V6 sedan/coupe with navi, 325i, 325Ci, C230 Kompressor sedan, A4 1.8T/3.0 sedan/wagon, RX-8, Evo, STI, and 350Z. These might be the top choices for young people for around $30k.

what do you mean, g35c comes in 6 speed...
and Chris, thanks for the info I'll tell him to look in autotrader.
and someone mentioned 300 ci...you mean a 3 series bmw? the only one that compares to a g35c performance wise is a 330i but with the navi and premium package its up around $42,000.

According to this data there is no significant differentiation between the brands home country and the initial quality. Some people here state that domestics suck but according to this data it is about equal across the board.
Of the top ten:
Four are from Japan
Three are domestic
Two are German
One is English

Seems that the trend extends for 3 years at least:
These nameplates had the fewest problems per 100 vehicles after 3 years.
