what are your local freeways like?

out here in so cal they are crazy. The posted speed limit is 65; however the avg. speed in the fast lane is 80 and some freeways it's even 85. And the freeways are always packed!!!! i straight get stuck in bumper to bumper traffic on freeways like the 101 and 10 at 2 in the morning!!!!! Another thing is, if you need a quick speed fix, there is ALWAYS somebody to race. ( i don't want to hear anything from you "oh thats so dangerous people" ) If i ever want to find a run i jump on the freeway and if 5 minutes go by and i'm not in a race something is weird. San Diego is the craziest for this, i went down there the other day and threw my bottle in and hooked it up for the drive because i wanted to do some top end drives through camp pendelton. Sure enough i got in about 7 different races (thank god i had a full bottle) And each race was close. There are tons of FAST cars everywhere you go. I LOVE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. It makes you wonder why more professional racers haven't come from here.

they street race on the freeway? And out here there are street races every night. ANd on weekends there are about 4 or 5 spots within an hour drive that go off (about 100-300 cars at each one)

NOTHING BEATS NYC

Man, every freakin day, sidestreet or highway, also some tricked out little bitch in his civic or integra who needs a beatdown. In NYC they used to have late night races across the MAJOR BRIDGES. NOW THAT'S BALLS. Back in the day in NYC guys used to rig their cars to have their reverse lights on all the time, which was the hidden indicator that they wanted to race.

NJ is no different. I think it has to also be that we have more people per square mile than anyone else. More kids, more rice, more accidents, higher insurance, ARRRGHH I can't take it!

haha, reminds me of the 110 freeway right through south pas. What we do is since it's 3 lanes wide, we'll all get side by side for about 10 minutes and go 25 to slow down traffic and let the lanes in front of us get cleared. Then it's 1,2,3 GO....need i say more?????????

disclaimer: this does not really happen, it is all a myth, do not try it

Dallas freeways suck. One fender bender will cause a 1 hr delay. I want to kill myself in dallas traffic. Since every other car here is a huge suv, people will make their own off ramps i.e. the grassy area between the frwy and the service roaad.

Please have a crane drop on my car so I have to buy a new CL-S. But wait till I'm not in the car. Thanks

CLPower,

Come to new F.E. Turnpike (rt-3 NH) and the famous rt-3 down to boston.

First, the good news rt-3 in NH is now a F.D. turnpike, 3-lane with 2 service lanes that would split and rejoin at each exit.

Posted Speed limit is 55. Avergae Speed from what I noticed is 80-85, on any lanes. The ones who are speeding usually they do 90-100+. Now that is crazy, and yeah some will start weaving around too.

Back to rt-3 in MA. That 2-lane road is also 55. I hate it when cars join at high speed to to the right lane. Basically, I drive only on the left lane till I need to get to my exit. Average speed is 80-85 on the left. Leave the road and sure you will kiss a tree on the either side of the road. no left shoulder no nothing..... That is freakin crazy

I have heard that the 65-MPH I-495 ( boston )is driver friendly. Actually, last Sunday, I was trying there to catch some big domestic boat at some 100 miles I just had to slow down cause I had 2 passengers with me.

Come to NE, freakin people are everywhere.

Avg speeds on interstates are 65 in slow lane, 75-80 in the fast lane. Traffic generally subsides around 7:30pm - I hate LA and NYC getting stuck in a traffic jam after a party and all I want to do is crash - I hate that.

Hey mchtypes, let's lighten up on the signature content. It's a little verbose...

Ahh, that is rt-1 in Saugus, MA, Speed limit is 50. And yeah there are stop signs/Yield sign on the ramps. I say that is fucking stupid raod. No shoulders, and right side of the road are commerical buidlings, stores, gas stations, etc. People just pull over from the rt-1 to their stops from 60 down to 0, just wish you are not behind one of those.

These kind of roads should be baned!!!

I have to say the nuttiest freeways Ive been on are Boston & Miami...

And Ive been too every city on the east coast.

I really dont think NYC is shit... sure... you get a rogue nutcase outta towner like me once in awhile... but in general NYC is just slow and backed up half the time.

In Boston... you have to have AT LEAST 260hp just in order to merge onto the freeway at a speed which ensures you wont be squashed by the hoards of SUVS travelling 120mph.

And Miami... foget about it... there isnt a place on earth as wild as the streets of Miami...

Where else can you see 15 fatal accidents in a 30 mile stretch of road???

Wilbur Cross/Merritt Parkway in Southern CT
or,
Saw Mill Parkway in Westchester County NY
or,
Taconic Parkway in Westchester/Duchess County NY

All parkways with generally 2 lanes, no on-ramp/off-ramp space, no guardrails unless you count lines of trees and speeds around 70mph on a road built for 50mph.

Great to drive in your Porsche. Otherwise, hang on!

Detroit is pretty rough. It's like a vacation to drive around DC, everyone is usually pretty cool, even though the traffic sucks. In Detroit, you have a bunch of pickup/camaro-driving, GED assholes who love to show off their mulletude. Look out if you own a Jap car.

I flew to Miami last year and took an airport van to a South Beach hotel around midnight. The GD driver was doing 90mph on the freeway. The roads and bridges were not the best and the van started bumping. I asked him to slow down and he sped up to nearly 100mph instead.

So I pulled out my phone and called his supervisor and said "I'm in van # and you need to tell the driver to slow this SOB down, right now!" Second later, I could hear a calm voice over the radio say "Slow it down, man..."

I was going to South Beach and I wanted to live to see tomorrow, no doubt. When I got to the hotel, I jumped out of the van and shouted "DON'T PUT YOUR GODDAMN HANDS ON MY BAGS!" and left without tipping.

I'm still kinda mad about that one. Nobody drives me at those kind of speeds except myself behind my own car's wheel.

Hey, you gotta love being in your mid-30s and able to talk sh*t to just about anyone if need be, no problem.

well, down in sunny ft lauderdale, or actualy deerfield beach where i live now, the speed limits are 55 and 65 on I-95 and on the turnpike. When i am drivin to work or even out to the bars and what not, i am cruisin down the highway at at least 80 plus at most times but at late nites, like on my way home from my gf in aventuras, and its like 2am, and no one on the road, i open the cl-s up and let the vtec scream at a average of 100 to 110. SHe drives soo nice at that speed and loves to be drivin that hard. i suggest that u all try it and u will see, u will love it too.
