What would '01 rear lights look like with the tint?

First off, I've searched and never found an actual picture.

I've been wondering about this for a while. A lot of people say that it wouldn't look good, but I was just drooling over the new SL65 AMG and their rear lights look a lot darker than ours. I'm not comparing the two in any way, just a thought what it might look like with tints?

That looks pretty good withoutcomp. I have a SMR. Where did you get the tints from?

Also, how is the visibility at night? Any problems with the cops?

Thank's No, No problems with the cops. The visibility is fine. It is a spray called nightshades, Just do a search online and you should find it.

I googled and can't find any places that sell it. Do you remember where you got yours from?

How long did it take you to do it?

It says it will look "black", not that it will make it darker

Do I have to uninstall the lights and spray the inside or just the outside casing of the lights?

You dont have to uninstall the casings, just tape up around the casing and spray, if u want half just cover up half. Your choice but you dont have to take the housing out.

Is this Nite-Shades stuff easy to remove from the taillights if you screw up? Or is it pretty much permanent?

You can get it off but it's not easy, you just have to take the taillights out of the car clean them really good with alcohol then spray a very light evev coat and let it dry(about 10 min), Then spray another light coat and let it dry, do this until you acheived the darkness you want. PS Don't screw up and you don't have to worry about removing it.

Hey Sexytypes, I can't really see it from that angle. Just wanted to know if it's black or is it a darker red?

For some reason I can see it better now. Hmm, I wonder how it would look on a red car. I like it on yours.

Hey folks. I thought I would let you know that we will have the CL tail light kit ready on Friday. We are using a film that sticks on and easy to install. if you want to remove it is also easy enough. Here is a pic of a TL to give you and idea.

Here is the thread in the vendor section for you to view prices if you are interested.

If we can help with anything please let us know.

Is it me or are your tailights matte finish? Would wet sanding be recomended to keep the tint from peeling? I wan to do my 01 tailights a tint darker, then mask it off, and do a center bar going accross even darker.

Typically the spray film is a matte finish and if you want shine you clear coat it. At least that is what I have seen from the Subaru community.

They are a matte finish...I tried spraying something over them thinking it would give them a glossy look, but it did not...I have thought about putting 3M clear protective film over it to make it glossy.....don't know how well that would work though.

The matte finish is the only thing I really don't care for when it comes to the nite shades.....but it was $8, guess I shouldn't have expected too much.
