when I upgrade to another car I may just keep this as my daily commuter.
When i DO upgrade however I will be getting something rwd, 2 seater, and extremely powerful.
first car was almost in the 200s, this one is almost in the 300s, next one is gonna be 500HP at LEAST.
Something no one can get accustom to the point they feel they need a faster ride.
I want a Corvette ZR1 HOLLLY SHYT.
watch the comparison video of the skyline vs ZR1... ZR1 wins in all categories... even the skid pad

Meh, not a fan of Vettes, especially that gimmicky hood-window. Thats just cheezy in my mind.
My next car is a light, mid-engined, RWD, two seater aka Lotus Elise/Exige (haven't decided if I want a super sleeper in the Elise or if I want something that looks fast standing still). Either way, the Toyota motor in it is being yanked out the first week I have the car. Ive already got the replacement motor sitting on the floor of my garage

And that Honda motor happens to be a K20Z3 with a mildly-built head putting down ~250whp. Once I get around to building it fully (full PnP, high compression, blueprint + balanced, and ITBs; its already got cams in it) it should be around 300whp on motor, no power adders.
Thats what is going in my 90 Civic hatch, but if I can locate an Elise for a good price the Civic goes bye-bye in a heartbeat.

LOL... I have a 16 y/o son who has wanted my car for years... now that I have my R170, if he keeps himself together grade and behavior-wise, he will get it at the end of this school year... I am already working on fixing the CL up for him... the more I drive my Merc, the more I will be able to fix up the CL... a blessing both ways!

I will get a new car, the longer I keep this one the more money I will have for a down-payment, so I will post pone it as much as practical. Obviously if my tranny goes again and they tell me to pay 4K, and its more than a car worth, I am not going to do it.

personally rather drive the CL then the SLK benz, especially considering a 6 cylinder rather then a 4 banger (yours might be a 6 cylinder though, IDK)(an AMG one might be a different story though)

I found a trans for a 6MT but it's over 100 miles away, and it has over 100k miles... my CL only has 78k.

i'd love to go 6 speed but i am not looking to have any car problems (especially ones you create yourself).
car is running like it's brand new, but faster. I couldn't ask for more out of a car at the moment. IF my auto takes a dump again then and only then would i even consider going through the hassle of trans change. it would be fun i agree, but i want a faster car for standard, the cl is fast but not my kinda sports car fast.

I'll have to try and remember to bump this thread in a year or so and see how many "For lyfe" people still have their CL's, if it's anything like the 1G CL forum, most of you guys will be gone and there will be all new n00bs around.
I for one won't be giving up on my CL anytime soon, I garaged it a few years ago and got a DD so that I could really start to rip it apart and build it. Although it's been slower than I wished, I still have big plans for my swap and build, just going to take a while, which is why I def won't be getting rid of it. Keeping it for lyfe y0

Funny to see all the Lotus talk. Obviously people that have never driven one. Theres no way in the world I'd want one for anything other then track duty. Drove one for 3 weeks. Thing SUCKS on anything other then a perfectly smooth track. Pain in the ass to get into. Seats don't adjust at all. No adjusting the recline or anything. To move them forward or back you need to un-bolt them and move them. All aluminum inside so it's basically just a tub. Ride is harsh as hell even on the track. Feel like you've been beat up even driving a short distance across town. Gearbox is only so-so. Bump steer can be scary on normal roads going into any turns on the highway when you suddenly go into the next lane by hitting a small bump. I could go on but the point is, cool track car, not so cool for anything else.

but i do like the fact that it is a "hardtop" convertable insted of a "softtop", protects your head better (and quiteter) if you ever happen to roll it or something with the top up

And as far as gear box goes, I said above that the Toyota motor would be yanked asap. The tranny goes with it. My smooth shifting K series tranny will go in its place.
And it really wasnt a car I was looking to daily. The CL is my daily for now. The Civic is going to be my fun car, but as I said, the Lotus can take its place at any point.
