What types of tranny Problems?

I need HELP. I have a 2001 Type S and I am looking at trading the car in as the handling is iffy and I am reading some scary stuff about the transmission on this Board. I have two questions:

1.What types of problems are people having with the tranny?

2. What would you get instead - S4, 330, MB, ???

Don't be worried about the tranny. Only about 4-8 people in this forum have had problems. So its not a huge problem that you need to worry about.
Now as for what car to get, save up and get a CLK430
I would.

On other thing ..... what about the brakes. I did need to have my rotors grinded at 20k miles and I am not the only one. Are the brakes an issue?

Thanks

yes, the brakes are an issue....my rotors are warped at 12k miles.

i'm hoping the dealer will take care of this as a "courtesy" repair since these aren't covered by the warranty...sad thing is that i don't drive the car hard at all and haven't been any harder on the brakes than any of my cars in the past.

As for the brakes, yeah I know there a problem, but just fork out a couple hundred bucks and get some cross drilled rotors They have some on Autocarparts.com They work pretty good from what I've seen
