Based on your own experience (5spd peeps), at what RPM do you guys shift at when going for max performance? Touch redline or no?

I've found shifting as close to the fuel cutoff as you can get is the best. If you shift early in 1st you will not be in VTEC when it hits second.

I remember calculating this a couple of years ago and the result was just before fuel cutoff.

espcially if you have headers, the Power curve will shift up and it's biased to give great gains at the nearest to redline possible.

my recomendation stands obviously were looking to get the car to shift the milli second before fuel cut , and with the quicker pace of 1st gear you'll have to react early 6900...2nd about 71 if youre fast third is easy

I'm with TypeR, but in my case I can time it just right and pop into gear at 7200.

there's no way you're starting the 1-2 shift when the rpm gauge is at 7200...momentum would carry it to 75+ at that rate of accelleration im speaking of the point when you acctually move your hand

That makes sense.... while you're moving your hand, the car will keep accelerating into the red.

when the car stutters from the fuel cut off, it's time to shift.

Ahhh ok then I would definatly agree with what u wrote. What I meant was that when going into teh next gear I am at 7200.
