I now drive an accord....
I don't drive to conserve gas :P
But when im just driving its usually 3K
If im feeling alittle aggressive its 5K and if im racing or just want to hear the engine scream I take it to 7K

Where is my super sauce?
Same as everyone else here.
Once I proved that the car was capable of better MPG with sub 3K RPM shifts, I went back to enjoying my car.
I generally shift right around the VTEC crossover (near 5K RPM) during my 'average' driving, and up to 6.5K RPM or so when I'm doing some more spirited driving.
I love taking the twisty back roads in second or third at 5-6K RPM -- you get that nice feeling of torque and hp.

Normal Driving... I don't shift till the oil light comes on and I can hear metal tear Drive it like you stole it
Seriously, probably 3-5K...
I'll take it up to 6000 if I want to burn some brain bubbles off, and up to redline if I feel like screwing around. Dropping it into 3rd at 60 is a blast, and grabbing 4th at 80 isn't that bad either...

It should be noted that the owner's manual has a page showing "normal" shift points for EACH gear by road speed. (For example, they recommend shifting into 6th gear at 52 MPH for normal driving.) I would assume these shift points are what Acura thinks are optimum for best MPG.

Guys we have really great cars here but I'm a bit concerned because some of you are saying you're redlining with normal driving. I think we should race every now and then but normal driving? Save your $hit cause it's a nice ride!!!

If I'm really trying to get great gas mileage I'll shift every gear expect 2nd @ 3k rpm. Since first is so short its hard not to hold it past 4k when taking off from a light. I usually skip 5th gear also, because if I hold 4th to ~3500 it puts 6th at 2k rpm, which is a good spot for mpg. I dont drive like a grandma either. My car usually sees redline a couple times a day. Its usually either entering the expressway (3rd) or just driving around corners and flooring it (2nd). As long as you change the oil every 3500 miles and dont over-rev it, it shouldnt hurt anything. I have never hit the rev limiter either.
I used to get 28-29mpg when I was doing alot of 60-65mph cruising without many lights, but now that I moved back to the city its dropped down to about 24.5mpg combined. I usually drive about 80-85mph on the expressways, so I'm sure it would be better if I went 70-75mph, but f that I got places to be. :P

The J32 is a rock solid engine. As spdy0001 said, redline is where it's at because everything below it is safe. I wouldn't worry about taking the RPM to 6900 or even to the fuel cutoff at 7100.
I would worry about the 5 -> 2 downshift that will cause a serious over-rev that a fuel limiter won't keep you out of.

FYI - the over-rev limiter is spark-cut not fuel-cut!! Fuel-cut would lead to detrimental effects!!
Since I am on the subject.... here's a scenario why FI is better than NOS. If you hit the rev-limiter on FI.... the worst thing that happens is that you vent unburned gas. Imagine what NOS does!

Just to be on the safe side I'm gonna take care of the ride and only rip it when some guy in a crappy car want's to race.
On a different note who's got the comptech icebox? how much did it increase engine noise by?

Hmm doesn't make sense to me and my feable mind. If you rev your engine at 2k and at 6k it's the same thing? I thought that the more revs on the crank the more stress on the bearings and valve springs.

Do you realize that every time you press on the brake pedal you're wearing the pads?
Do you realize that every time you drive around the block you're wearing the tires?
Do you realize that every time you turn you back out of the driveway you you're wearing your reverse gear?
Do you realize that every movement in the car causes some wear?
I'm not saying that you should spend a 2000 mile trip driving in 2nd at 6000 RPM. Obviously that would be more wearing then doing the same trip in 6th at 2K RPM. We're mostly talking revs between shifts.
The CL is not a museum piece that I hope to see in pristine condition 200 years from now. I don't think it needs to be treated like one.

Do you think there are a limited amount of times an engine can be rev'ed to red line? Do you think that the engine's MTBF is appreciably sooner if its rev'ed higher in the safe-to-rev band?
I don't know the answer to these -- hopefully someone with more mechanical knowledge can comment. I tend to think that anything below redline is safe and that while wear may be a bit more at high revs it won't be significant in an engine that otherwise is well made.
