I'm looking at a vibrant ultra quiet to pipe in but,want to know what everyone's else is running and if your happy with what you have.

my exhaust is going to be:
obx headers
xlr8 cat
2.25 or 2.50 pipe, looking for coments on pipe size
choice of resonator, looking for coments on resonators
deleted mufflers
2.25 pipe off the Y
3.5 resonated tips

I am running CT headers --> P2R testpipe --> Borla XR1 Resonator --> Vibrant UQ Resonator---> Greddy EVO2 catback system....

--> added Vibrant resonator because the EVO2 mufflers were over-whelmed between 2,000-3,000 rpm... but it sounded glorious after 5,000 rpm....
--> I would like to change over to HKS super dragger mufflers and delete the Vibrant muffler... Greddy mufflers sound okay... nothing spectacular...

 

How do you think your car would sound the way it sits,without the mufflers ?
Any clearance issues with the ultra quiet ?

 

I'm running the 3" in/out Vibrant resonator. Really mellowed out the sound. Mine was too raspy before.

 

Are you running the bottle type or can type vibrant ?
My bigest question to anyone is :
Does the UQ hang right,and have no ground clearance issues?

Now on to the next thing.
The piping in between the cat and the resonator.
Obviously I should used 2 1/2 since that is the size cat and resonator I chose, or should I ??
what are the benifits to running SS pipe over the cheap pipe at the shop ?
like wont rust etc.

 

There is no difference besides what you stated. As long as it's mandrel bent it's just a matter of preference. You may need to replace the exhaust sooner if it's not stainless steel because of rust and it being a weaker material.

I think you should do 2 1/2, might as well open her up

 

I am actually very very curious to hear how it sounds with the mufflers deleted. I suspect it would sound better. Currently, it sounds okay. Slightly too loud and the sound is a little too muddied. I will test fit straight pipes and try and post the before/after results; not anytime soon though.

Clearance Issues:
None whatsoever

I'm hoping between the ultra quiet and the resonated tips it's not too bad.

 

Got the resonator and cat.
getting them piped in Monday.

Went to the shop and the cat was a rattle box and sounded like it was rattling at the resonator too.
Like piece's of the cat was in the resonator too.
My cars felt a little boggish lately till almost 3000rpm.

 

Cars getting done now,exhaust guy said it should be done by 3.
I'm so itching to get it back

First thing I can say is holy s!@# this setup is way to loud.
Rev'd the car at a intersection and had evey car scoping out my ride.
Sure did bring back power off the line and high too.
Tires are spinning again.
Too me it sounds sick
My wife is going to kill me.

I been out riding and it's louder basically all the time.
It seams annoying already if stepping on the peddle any more than babying it off the line.
Once cruising it does not sound any louder at all.
Now being on it sounds sick on the move.
on the rev's it sounds snapy like a 4 cylinder race car.

Can't find my cammera cord so I can charge it.
No capable phones right now either.
So vid's going to have to wait.
Not long thou,I'll be looking to order a new cord.

That's the best I can describe what it sounds like.

I could'nt get a vid yet but,I jumped on the ground for pics of the cat and the resonator.

THIS THREAD IS WORTHLESS WITHOUT SOUND, I know.
Even thou I got the front struts 11 turns and the rears 6 turns off the bottom it's still hard to see the exhaust for any good pics.
I can see some crappy welding,thats for sure.

2.5" Vibrant Turbo Flex Pipe
2.5" Vibrant Hi Flo Cat
2.5" Pipes
2.5" Vibrant Ultra Quiet Resonator
2.25" Pipes starting at the y-split
2.25" in x 3" out Vibrant Stealth Black Mufflers

The resonator fixed the resonance and loud volume coming from the middle part of the exhaust, but still have a problem with it being too loud under any sort of load. At idle with the A/C off it sounds great. So I've ordered another resonator and will see what that does. I've also go my eyes on some DC Sports 3" Quiet Tip Inserts. If the extra resonator doesn't work I'll probably go with them . . and take them out when I go to the track.
