What octane do u use in your CL_S

I was just wondering casue i always put 89 octane in, which is the premuim usually, and i dont really thingk its worth it. I drive very locally to work and the only time i am drivcin long distance is too my GF in north miami which is 20 miles or soo, and to my buddy in boyton beach whcih is like 35 miles or soo. IS there a milage difference between using 87 and 89 cause heree in FL, i can get 87 for 1.49, but 89 is still 1.61 and it cost me like 25 bucks to fill the tank. POlease letme kjow your opions casue i just bought a house and i need to start savin pennies in the littlist ways. THnaks guys

I thought anything below 92 might causing pinging. . . Or does the onboard computer compensate for the lower octane some way. . .

I mix in 4-8 gallons of 100 octane when I get the chance. I never did GTECH the car (with/without), but I can tell the difference (so can my wife). The ping/knock sensors can tell a difference between the Shell Premium 91/92 octane and the high-octane blend.

I've also noticed about 10-20% better gas mileage with the added high octane (I do drive like grandma sometimes).

If any of you guys are going to the track, get some real 100 octane; toss the spare; fill only to 1/4 tank (or less), and remove anything that isn't bolted down (just my humble opinion).

Just saw your question, here is the topic link (I posted the address, phone number, and pictures of the station). They are just off PCH south of Malibu.

The owner's manual says 91 minimum. The knock sensors will probably compensate for the 89 octance, but engine performance will definitely be affected! Before I would compromise the CL-S with less than 91 octane, I'd trade down to an Accord Coupe. It will accept regular gas.

I use 93 only. For me the price difference between regular (87) and premium (93) is very little. This is a high compression engine, is it not??? I really think you should heed the advice of Acura and use at least a 91 grade in your car.

Why u would like to fuk up ur engine. anthing below ***required*** 91 Octane will detonate inside the engine block!!!

Even If you pay $0.5 per gallon more over the 100,000 you would save some $2,500 (realistically that would be only $500) over 5-6 years, remind you that any engine overhall will cost much more than that....

You buy a +$30,000 sport/luxary coupe and worry about $.10 a gallon.

If you put in 15 gallons every five days and pay $.10 more per gallon then every five days you will have to pay a WHOLE $1.50 more, OR just $.30 a day.

Come on, you must be joking, I thought Florida had a lower cost of living.

Buy at least 91 Octane.

My parents only put 92 into their regular 3.2CL. If the car has a warning sign saying "premium unleaded fuel only" then don't put anything with octane lower than 91.5.

89 is not premium... The Manual says 91 min. I put 92 or 93. If you wanted something that ran on cheap gas get a Chrysler.
