What is the obsession with chrome rims?

Chrome wheels are U-G-L-Y. Why are some people so fascinated by them? Because they're flashy and sparkly? Because they match yo teef or yo jewray? Becasue they give oyu that gold-package-Escalade look? Why why WHY?

You're jokin right??

It turns heads..

I personally don't think they would look good on certian colors and cars.. but generally on dark colored cars, they look nice.
And it's not my style.. but to each his own..

Post some pics of the wheels you think look nice..

Yeah, it turns heads...they turn to laugh at the tasteless ghetto chrome wheels. Why not just paint your car pink or drag a muffler behind your car...that will get attention, and for the same reason that massive, gaudy chrome wheels do. There's a big difference between attention and admiration.

Why chrome why chrome why chrome? That must be the STUPIDIST question I've seen on this forum yet. Chicken Heads (women for the uninitiated) love the bling bling!

When I first got my ride it was very annoying to look at the side of my car and see nothing but deep azz black paint, a CHROME strip surrounding the windows and the CHROME door handles, but no chrome rims. The CHROME rims MATCH the rest of the CHROME that's on the car. It brings order and completeness to the package. Expecially on a black car.

I guess we're just of two different cultures...and what's wrong with the Mille Miglias? They're cheap, lightweight, strong, and have enormous brake clearance. Perfect for track use. After this weekend, the BMW wheels go back on the car for everyday driving, and the new wheels and tires get saved for track and autocross use.

I'm partial to polished rims, but different strokes for different folks.

Chrome's are bling bling. When i had my explorer with 20s Niche Bella, I got attention everywhere i went. Even the girls gave me their numbers. It was so easy to attract the females. Sometime in the grove, for those of you who don't know what the grove is (Coconut Grove), some girls would just walk up to my car and ride with me for the night. so CHROME IS BLING BLING, and I have to agree with somebody that said about chicken head.

I agree, chrome IMO is pretty nasty. Its all about the aluminum alloy. What pisses me off is when people put nasty ass chrome rims on sports cars....(saw a shiny new Skyline pic only with huge ass 19 chrome rims... ).

Taste-LESS. Like I said, I think we're just from two different cultures. We appreciate different things.

Well I see cakennedy is a BMW owner!!! That would explain A LOT!!! We all know that BMW owners have WAY more class than us "Honda" owners!!! We should be thankful that he pointed out how U-G-L-Y chrome rims are!!! We all know how much better BMW owners are at making their cars look better than us Honda owner!!! I think I will post some examples of how BEAUTIFUL BMW's are compared to our pitiful little Honda's.

I hate chrome too... It looked good in the 50's... Not today. Wheels aren't supposed to be the high point of the car. the car is the high point of the car. When you have those 20 inch rims what do you do when you see a puddle? scram through three lanes of traffic to avoid it? I don't see the point either. They're heavy too. Headers? The speed from the headers is negated with 100 pound rims. Pointless.

and some pointed out that on many cars
chromes do not mix.... agreed

i can also point out some guys are desparate for ass

I just think you are too opinionated......
you go on talking about how taste-less chrome is and how "ghetto" it is. When it all boils down to be someone's personal judgement. OBVIOUSLY as Aztec pointed out there are BMW owners who purchase chrome.and also buy big azz ugly tails, but it doesn't make them bad people or from a "culture" that doesn't know anything, its just their personal opinion. And every car can be bought factory with chrome....so if you don't like it then don't buy it, but don't act ignorant about it.... it has nothing to do with culture, race, geographic location, economic status, or even religion....it a matter of personal taste. We're not blaming you for having a BMW!

Who gives a shit?
Why are you worried about what everyone else is doing to their cars?

I personally think my Japanese chrome 3 piece wheels look extremely nice, and that's all that matters.
