I passed a car today on the highway and the guy had pop-riveted mud-flaps (4) to the side of the car to cover up rust holes. LMAO!
Worst thing I did was take a can of spray paint and recolor the severe rust n my '72 Maverick.
How about you?

I have done all of the standard Baling wire stuff with mufflers and such but the most un-professional was...
On my 1972 BMW 2002tii. It had an electronic cold start valve (like a choke on a carberator) that actuated when you start the car cold. It went out and instead of fixing the electric thingy that was supposed to tell it to work, I wired it to the hazard button in the car so I could just push the button when I started the car.
As a side benefit, it because a great security system since you couldn't start the car. Also, when I was running out of gas once, I pushed the button and was able to get some extra gas from the valve to get me to a gas station.

Oh, come on guys. There has got to be better than this. Either you guys are too young or have to much money to have have worked on your own car. Didn't everyone have a clunker in High School that you had to keep running.
Well, I have more. Here is another. I had a hole in my exhaust pipe that I used a Coca Cola can and two hose clamps to "Fix"
Oh, yeah. I almost forgot about the time that I used grease to make my car look shiny (the paint was completely oxidized) for a girl.

Again on my '72 Maverick (that was a Ford for you youngins'), the automatic choke did not work, so I bought a throttle assembly for a lawnmower and rigged it up and back into the dashboard. Just yanked it to choke and then pushed it back in to go full throttle!
