What a Loaner
My wife and I just picked up a new '03 RX300 (loaded except for Nav) at a hell of a deal. We found that there was no chance of a double stroller fitting in her BMW so an SUV was her choice. With the replacement of the RX300 with the RX330 they have seriously dropped the price of the remaining RX300s.
But that is not the point. They had to order the rear spoiler for the RX300 and it just recently came in. So they arranged for a porter to pick up her car and dropped off a loaner. That is service. But guess what they dropped off, a brand new LS430 (2k miles on it).
This thing is so quiet and smooth that I do not like it. It is seriously boring. Don't get me wrong, this is a wonderful vehicle but it is too sedate for me. There is absolutely no indication that the engine is running other than the tach being up a little. There is virtually no wind noise at highway speeds. Talk about isolation.
But as expected there steering is numb and the transmission shifts very slow. It feels like they pulling timing quite a bit at the shifts to smooth them out which makes it feel sluggish.
I like how they give me a vehicle nearly double the price of what I purchased...

That is exactly why my parents have been loyal lexus buyers since 92. They too just made a deal on an rx300.
They just give you service man. Theyll still have a porter pick up and drop for things as simple as oil changes. Even when the warranty has expired.
Hell, when they their old LS400 in the shop out of warranty (traded it for the rx300) Not only did they give a loaner rx300 that my folks requested but they let them take it out of state to help me move.
Sure you can a get toyota cheaper like some people love to preach, but toyota doesnt have the service and care lexus does.

The sticker was almost touching $40k and we got it (only 28 miles) for $34k and 3.9% on the 60 month financing.

Try driving the LS430 for 12 hours non-stop. Now that's boring. My brother is stationed at fort bragg and my father had me drive him back to base from MD. It's a very nice highway cruiser but it's for OLD people who want to tune out the world. My father is boring, so the car fits his purpose. The only useful thing in that car is the navi, auto wipers, and mini cooler he has in the back-seat which stores sodas at a cool temp you don't have stop for condiments on a long trip.

Ya lexus service rocks. they are the best! my familys owned just about everything. and been taken cars to all kinds of service. from Lincon, BMW,Audi, Benz, Jag, Porsche and still had the best service at lexus. and they treat you like you are their only customer.
my dad got rid of his 740il because he was sick of there servce. even though he owned a $75,000 car they didn't want to even going to give him a loan car unless we had the work done there (thats why we took it there). till they found out we had been buying cars from them for 20 yr. last bmw he bought. and he's been happy since he's had his lexus. and no problems.
I really miss the service. but i have finally found good acrua servcie at Goodson acura. not quite lexus but better then john roberts bmw.

i cant believe you guys feel that the LS430 feels boring. It almost a perfect luxury car. smooth as hell. very quiet. i love the steering, and the low end power is excellent. with my acura i can feel every shift. in the LS430 you have no idea what gear you are in if you dont look at the tach.
i would love to take that car on a long trip. seats are comfortable as hell visibility is a plus rear view and side mirrors are excellent.
scalbert you should cruise the car around 80 and floor it. The car just pulls hard to 100 mph...

Plus on the highway at speed. not many cars are going to be able to overtake you with that beautiful engine under the hood. hit the ECT POWER button and fly.

Boring is just the adjective that came to mind. The car is fabulous without a doubt and is the epitome of luxury. But when it comes to driving experience it lacks, but that is the intended purpose; to isolate and coddle the driver and passengers.
