Following a tip recently posted by Edub-TL, I put a light coating of silver paint on the amber bulbs and it seems that it will work fine (pic below).
I picked up a pack of GE 194 amber bulbs, put a very light coating on them and then plugged them in the socket for a test. They still glow amber to keep the police happy. I've got the Polarg G-34s for the turn signals right now but I may try silver painted ambers. I don't know what bulbs to suggest if you're looking for white light. Anybody know?

I got the high temp the first time and it coated the bulbs to the point where you couldnt even tell if they were on or not. I tried to put a light coat on with the high temp and it just wouldnt work. I did some small push in bulbs with the regular silver and they light up a nice bright amber and i havent had any problems with the paint coming off. Btw these lights are on with the headlights and have been on for a few hours straight with no visable problems. I havent done the blinker bulbs yet.

Get these:
Philips Silver Vision bulbs.
They are chrome when off but when the light up they are amber.
Just search for them... theres a bunch of places to buy them. I have some places bookmarked at home... I'll post later.

I would've had those bulbs already but they won't work. They're only single filament. Our bulbs are dual filament. That's not really the problem though. They won't even fit properly due to the differences in the base. I discovered this when I bought a set of Osram Diadems, which are similar bulbs (but just a little brighter). I posted a pic of the differences in the bases at the end of the thread here:

Neither Osram nor Phillips makes the "silver" colored dual filament bulbs *yet*. The best available at this moment are the Polarg G-34s. I'll still try the "homemade" version out of curiosity though.
Here are my pics comparing a couple of the bulbs above:
