what gives?
My friend just got a new VW GLI and his car smokes my CL-S off the line, on the highway, everywhere.........Both cars are stock. His is standard. I read somewhere the GLI does 0-60 in like 8 sec. So why is he smokin me? Is the GLI faster?

hahaha......thats what I thought. For some reason my car just feels slower. Just the other day a Celica GT-S was keeping up with me on the highway. I was like WHAT? Do you think it may be a tranny issue? I havent noticed any weird shifting or anything.

How can I check if its an actuator problem. I dont want to get the runaround at the dealer if I bring it in. You know theyll be like your cars fine. For some reason it just feels slow. Everyone claims their CL-S is fast but for some reason mine isnt. Ive had it for 2 years and maybe im just too use to it but then why are 180-200 horsepower cars keepin up? I should be smokin these cars!

I'll assume you mean the Jetta GLI (a nice car for a girl).
Let's do the math
CLS has 260hp and weighs 3446 lbs for a power/weight ratio of 13.25
Jetta GLI has 200hp and weighs 3179lbs for a power/weight ratio of 15.90.
The CLS should spank a Jetta GLI (with equal drivers).

there's a thread around here somewhere on the actuator, do a search. Pop the hood and watch the actuator while someone hits the gas to put the revs over some level, preferably while in neutral I think it's 4k rpms or maybe a bit more. You can see the switch move. If it doesn't, you need to get it fixed to get your power back.

why..maybe u are not pushing your beast hard enough
otherwise..it should be a easy kill

If you have an auto turn the VSA off. While at a standstill rev the engine slightly with one foot on the brake. Release the brake when the light changes and keep the accelerator down. He may not have told you about some mods he made to his car, especially easy to do on a turbo VW. Even if his car is a slightly modded turbo pushing ~ 220 hp and lots of boost you should win hands down.

Without going into too much detail when I first got my GTI Golf I had an Acura TL/S in my sights one day to work .Although I never passed he never got rid of me either .We remained bumper to bumper thoughout the entire "test" .I could tell he was really running the car hard by the puffs of cloud from the tailpipes everytime he nailed the throttle in his attempts to unglue me from his rear bumper .
