What does this plug into?

Back in the summer, was I taking a look under the hood, and noticed I had an unused, capped off plug. It's a short plug, and there's nothing in it's vicinity that it can plug into. Does anyone have any idea what it could go to? It's a big, hefty looking plug..

I've done the AV6 swap, so is this just something left over that the mechanics just didn't remove, or what?

One wire inputs ground, and the rest are ground outputs to various places in the engine bay.

So you're telling me that there two separate massive plugs that are grounds? Then why would they not be in use? What are they supposed to be connected to?

They are in use. They are connected. Like I said, one of the wires is supplying ground to all the other wires. This is called a junction connector.

Well, you're definately right about what you said, but now I'm confused. Doesn't it need to be plugged in or attached to something to be grounded? To me, I'm seeing it as being just a one way trip of electricity with a dead end be the cap.
I'll do some research on 'Junction connectors', but I still don't see why it's no connected to anything.

That plug has several wires in it. One is the ground and the others are connected to it within that connector. No need to plug it into anything else, it's already grounding all of them.
