My brother used to have a Orange CL back in the day. Excellent car.
With coupes having short shelf lives, I am curious what you guys upgrade to? Is the normal upgrade new Accord Coupes, Or G37s or is it the new RC Lexus?
I know my brother went to G37, hated it, and now has a Boss Mustang. It is his first American cars.
So what are CL owners upgrading their cars and replacing them with?
Well those who have moved on probably won't be back to answer your question.
Only guys i can think of who still post here went to an FRS and another to a Lexus 350, Pontiac G8. I'd imagine many need a bigger car eventually for family reasons so are into a 4 door or SUV.
I don't "upgrade"- I maintain O.G. status and continue preserving the freshness of my CL
For me, the newer accord coupes are a downgrade, at least compared to a 6MT CL.
Most newer cars are just blah IMO. And if I do find something appealing, it's not appealing enough to justify getting rid of my CL and having a car payment for X years
Having seen the new Accord Coupes, I agree it is a downgrade. I only mentioned it, since people keep suggesting that as a new car around here. It is a fantastic car, but it isn't a CL.
I had a SC300 and SC400 back in the day, so I have a soft spot for big luxo coupes.
Would you guys say the new Lexus RC Coupe is a real modern day CL?
I moved on to the TL SH-AWD. With the bad winters we'd been having here in the Midwest with my CL6 being my DD, I decided I wanted AWD. Gave up the coupe look and rowing the gears, but gained a truly good driver's car with an excellent interior and of course, SH-AWD.
They're the Advance, 19" wheels. In fact, the only reason I went with the Advance. Didn't like the 18"s on the 2014. Thought about finding some 18" off the 2012 as I like them better than the 2014 18s. Aside from putting aftermarket wheels on it, these were the best looking ones and I'm happy with them.
^^Nope, not looking for a new ride. Lowly TSX Wagon.
Just curious what the good coupes these days are. Since the CL was a fantastic coupe (IMHO), figured whatever you guys are upgrading to, is the thing to have.
are you looking for a new ride? What wagon do you have now?
The SH-AWD is great but i just can't get over the looks.
My CL was a great car. And there are many aspects about it I miss. I really didn't dig the 4G at first. And when I was shopping, I was actually looking at some 2011s and 12s. Really didn't like the beak. Thought the 13 & 14 had actually improved enough to make me initially like it a little. After painting the grill, tinting the windows and putting the underbody kit on it, I love the looks of it now.

I always get the itch to go rwd & the only car that really appeals to me is the E39 540i. Anything newer doesn't really do anything for me but then I just go for a drive in the CLS & it kicks me back to reality that this car is just solid.
Can't wait to get my coils on & get some breathing mods done to really let the 3.5 breathe
Well... My CLS6 was totalled and I dont think it is replaceable....the car was just too much fun.
I went on and bought a 2003 Lexus GS430 which is awsome car by the way. That car with PPE Headers, Dragon Torque Converter, SRT Intake, and 3.76 gears was a blast. Easily would lay down 13.5's @ 105mph.... not bad at all. The mid range torque really made that V8 a sweetheart....
buuuuuuuuut, nothing I've driven winds out like a J32A2. I swear even though the GS could run a 13.5 and trap at decent speed, I think the CLS6 would pull on it if winding the gears out... so many cars have been shocked by the CLS6's ability to accelerate into high speeds...
So to answer question, I came back "home" to a TL SH-AWD but unfortunately it isn't the 6MT which is the way god intended J motors to be.... "if it ain't MT, it ain't a J"
My kids are growing up fast and I needed 4 doors. I wanted a nice rwd sport sedan, was leaning towards BMW but every damn one I saw had a carfax maintenance history list a mile long, so I opted for a more reliable option, the Lexus GS. It's no cls6 but the speed and power of this boat is surprisingly good, 0-60 in under 6 seconds and feels much more nimble after lowering and adding strut brace bar and sway bars.

no kidding no car payments is kool...cash is king
Anybody's opinion on ride difference 2007 and up BMW 335's vs Acura CL?

I have ridden in my brothers stock CL-S vs a stock 335 Coupe. 335 felt like a sports car, CL-S felt like a wallowy boat. 335 rode a lot "harsher" if you like a soft ride.

interesting ride experience.... you're brother's CL-S on stock springs?
I still have my CL put back to stock as a beater. I moved on to a NSX. I absolutely love my upgrade. Definitely no regrets. But I did enjoy my time with the CL.
Her in her hay day before put back to a stock beater:

How did you forget about me? I thought we were cool lol. Jk.
Lol, sorry buddy! Really it's your fault for not updating your build thread!
Oh I ended up starting its own separate build thread over in car talk. That's really all I go now on AZ. Every now and then I'll lurk on the CL side to check out a few threads. Here's the build thread, a lot of updates since you last saw it.

You don't count since you don't post in CL section.
Always wanted an NSX, just can't stand prices of oem or aftermarket parts. Making a track NSX would easily run me 100 k plus. Not like my CL is cheap though.

What do you daily?
I lurk so that should count for something lol.
I hear you on the prices. I've spent just under $20k in mods so far and I'm only halfway done with all that I have planned. I used to complain about CL prices. I miss them lol. I daily my nsx. I'd done that since I bought it. I went to Japan for 6 months last year so it sat for a while and saved a few miles lol.

Daily the NSX, nice. I want to go to Japan so bad.
+1 on no new desirable coupes. If my CL were to get stolen or totaled (at this point really the only way I'd move on from the CL) I really don't know what I'd move on to. It wouldn't be another Acura at this point. Unless by some stroke of luck I found a good 6MT CL or something :p Good luck with that, though...
Ideally I'd want to get something no older than maybe 2-3 years old if I even end up getting a used car. But todays cars are too bulky for my tastes. Even a lot of coupes.
