For a CL-S.... is it 3"??

Does any 3" bypass valve from AEM fit?

I think the design might better if the diamter of the pipe decreased slightly as it went closer to the engine. If i'm not mistaken, this would increase the speed of air going into the manifold. Any thoughts?

20-403S is the part # for the bypass valve for the AEM CAI (3" diameter). I just called them and they said the pipe is 3" in diameter. I have one, but I would hope the people who sell the stuff would know what you need best and know the size of their intake products!

BTW -- I asked for the part # of the bypass and size of the intake for an 2001 Acura CL Type-S.

Good idea, been used for years. I've got a book from 1960, and the topic is older than that. (I looked -- the "effect" was christened 'ram-charge' by the Chrysler Corp and "used to great effect on Dodge cars...")

The AEM folks probably DON'T use it due to cost. It is cheaper to just get and bend a fixed diameter pipe.

Ah, thanks. Yeah, i'm fairly new to the grease monkey game so i have this brillant ideas in my head Only to realize that people MUCH MUCH smarter than I have thought of them long before. Hmmmmm, would it be similar to a RAM-AIR effect or a cross between a blower and a ram-air
(thus ram-charge). If somebody were to make one then we might be able to get between 10-25 hp increase? I take 10 because that's the high of the AEM-CAI and 25 from the RAM-AIR that's used in the WS-6 Firebird. I gotta talk to some of my engineering friends to see if i could get some true numbers. Anybody around here?
