Damn I just wrote a goddamn novel for you guys (nothing better to do at 1 AM, and you probably would've skipped it anyway) about my situation and all, but I pressed the wrong key combo and went to the homepage and my browser lost the info. Well shit so I can finally get to my question now (I spent like 30 mins):
I'm getting a 2001 CL-S this week and I probly wont be able to do much for mods so what color looks the best stock? My mom won't let me get Black (accident stats she read...) and my dad has an Aegean Blue TL-S so that's out. I'm thinkin San Marino Red, but thats iffy cuz my mom has a Red Rock Pearl MDX. I was also thinkin white but you cant see the lines of the car so well. Silver is nice too but its askin for mods cuz it doesnt stand out as much. Did anthracite come on 2001 models?

Please let me know what you think (I have to get a 2001 b/c of the $$). Since I have the option right now I want to make the best choice, and it would help to have input since my opinions right now arent very strong in any direction.

Maybe rank your choices like so:
1: San Marino Red
2: Aegean Blue Pearl
3: Black Pearl
etc...

Your one,two,three are exactly the same as my color choices (and in the same order) when I went to buy my CLS. I got the San Marino Red

When I bought my CL, my brother commented that he never thought I was a "red car" guy I've got a thing against white cars. My last car was white, and due to some other reasons too, I've adopted a "no more white cars" rule. I don't like green cars either (yep, the greenmonster, doesn't like green ).

So, what's the point of my last paragraph? Who cares what other people think. It doesn't matter what color cars other people in your household drive (there are 3 white cars at my house).

BUY THE COLOR YOU LIKE!!

You're gonna own it for awhile, so you'd have better get exactly what you want. I always wanted a red sportscar w/ a saddle interior (parchment), and that's exactly what I got. Am I happy. Damn, yes !!

Oh, and pimp daddy gold is a nice color on the 01's

 

Silver is easier to keep clean. But, if you're willing and able to clean the car constantly, choose a darker color that you like better.

Silver is the fastest stock color so the mods you won't be doing were simply overkill anyway...Get SSM!

 

Well I know blue beats white because my stock blue (well I have the comptech hi-flow air filter woo-woo) beat a white with headers, CAI, and exhaust last spring. One of the only times I actually raced someone and that was sort of spur-of-the-moment, from a roll.

all colors look fuckin awesome on CL-S. if ur getting a 2k1 jus make sure u got one with less k and no tranny problems, or else u'll b pissed

 

Mine's already had the trans replaced with the new version! AND only like 10k miles on the new one, so definitely low mileage!

 

Screw the color. Find one with a navi in it. Once you see how it works, if you don't have it, you will wish you did!

 

But hey, it looks good from 10 feet away.

 

On a 2001 i'd go with either Red or Silver. The CL looks real nice in either of those colors.

 

I know you said no black, and my mom was the same way (By the way i have a 99 CL 3.0) with the accident stats and stuff. Now that I have it I love it. It is actually being completely repainted black, I think it looks so hot on a CL.

 

I had a silver. Booring color. Small metal flake. Check anthricite.

To answer your question, I think Black and Red look the best in 01 CL-S.

 

Just got home from showing my g/f my new car... I got an Aegean 2001 w/Navi and 43k mi for 20,000 before tax. http://www.cars.com/search/used/cc/s...onal&src=&cid= It says 22k but my dad got it down to 20,005. (Navi was a must... I want to trade cars with my mom and dad whenever I want, and they both have the Navi so they would have a reason to not want to drive the CL if it didnt have Navi... and I use it all the time when I drive their cars cuz its hella nice and easy) I found it through cars.com at a Benz dealership nearby. I love the car already. Just now I was coming onto the freeway back from my g/f's (only 1 exit away) and on the onramp I just floored it past some old van. What a sweet sound! it must have been second gear cuz it had nice power and shifted at around 60-65 i think. I just have to be careful not to go too fast on the freeway- I really don't want a ticket after I lost my good driver discount with my 'training wheels'. My insurance is now $4k/yr. Anyways I'll see my car together with my dad's tomorrow when he gets his back from the body shop (The neighbor backed her Volvo into the quarter panel cuz she didnt see the car with her dog in the trunk). Hopefully his TL-S was pounded out right and I can post some pics (I'll just use my Nokia 3650 cuz its easy with bluetooth, but not best quality)

I'll try and post pics by this weekend, since we're swapping cars like mad tomorrow: I'm taking my mom to the mechanic to get her checkup on the MDX, and then she'll take my CL to work. My dad will take his rental (P.O.S. V6 Mustang) to work. My mom will come home to pick her MDX back up so I get my CL again. Then I will pick up my civic from the paintshop with my girlfriend. And finally my dad will pick up his TL in the evening with my mom. And then he will return the Mustang. So you see I probably wont be getting pics up tomorrow, but we'll see.

I feel kinda stupid writing so much, but I guess there's nobody making you read all of the excess crap.

congrats on the ABP CLS ...here's a lil info on the color...it wasn't offered when the CLS first came out in March '00...it was added to the color pallette for calendar year 2001, so yer actually getting a production car that is roughly 1 year after the CL's were being manufactured

 

Is it Type S? it jus says A-CL

 

oh yeah i wouldn't go for just a CL, I mean it's a nice car, but without that Type-S, it's not for me ;-)
