On what basis does the Gtech Calculate HP?

On what basis does the Gtech Calculate HP?
last night i went out to try this Gtech Pro and i wanted to calculate the HP from it ... so i did put that my car weight is about 4000 lbs because i had someone with me in the car and we are two big guys... anyways the highest i got was 276Hp and after few runs the engine begun to heat so i started getting lower than 276HP and ths lowest i got was 261HP .... and we tried a GS400 after that and he got 256HP the highest... so on what basis does the Gtech give us the HP?

Simply, not very well!!!
It tries and determine how much HP it would take to accelerate a vehicle of X weigth. It knows G's and bases it of of that.
However, it has never been doen well.
But IMO, one great use of it is by watching the actual G's over a speed range in a single gear. Say from 30 to 70 in 2nd. Compare this from one car to another and you can have a good idea of how well it pulls.

hey Fahad, try it w/ only yourself in the car. your weight + car weight. then you might get a more accurate reading. rounding off to 4000 lb's isn't really helping either.

Is there a 'big' diffference in weight between a CL-S with Navi and w/o Navi?.. is the 3525 lbs. they quote with or w/o Navi?
