What is the average cost of a tranny replacement?
What is the average cost of a tranny replacement? Where is the best place to get one cheap? Roughly what do your mechanics charge to swap one in and out?

$5K from Acura for a reman

I think the price is really going to depend on where your at I live the L.A. area and even though I have never had any problems I got some quotes just in case and the lowest I was quoted was $1700 the highest $3400 the mid range was about $2300.

Im sure it doesnt come with a tranny cooler but thats a simple add on. The Oddy tranny is in the $900-1500 range depending on shipping and condition. Check out car-part.com

Burning Brakes
Even though I live in Canada. I feel like I got ripped off. I paid around $3.5k for a rebuild of my tranny. Local Acura wanted $9k for new tranny. That's a new car!!!

I am literally going through this right now. The independent trans shop I'm using said i had 3 options. 1: rip it apart and replace what the feel needs to be replaced; 2: rip it apart and replace everything, or 3: get a complete reman trans. $2500-$3500 (told me 3500 would be the max) I told him no, and i bought an 05 odyssey trans on ebay with ~57000 miles http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWNX%3AIT i told the shop what the plan was which is to swap the necessary components over to the oddy trans and install it. told me ~800 parts+labor. 1600-1800 later im ahead with a better trans for less. hope this helps.

I should have done an odessy tranny swap. Or a 6speed convert. I just did a rebuild cuz had no time to find parts and whatnot. Gunna regret it soon... Car is shifting hard like when you drive then let go of gas it shifts and its rough but tranny is literally 3 months old.

Just a few weeks ago my 3rd tranny went out. 165K miles on car / 50K on 2nd tranny.
After some negotiation Acura split the cost with me.
