What is this?

I was going to try and place an extra LED in the car for the alarm. When I removed the cover where I was wanting to place it, this is what I found. Its the black cover piece in the center front window..What is this? Maybe the sensor for the DRL?

Thanks in advance.

It's a sunlight sensor that works along with a temperature sensor that helps the A/C keep the temperature at the exact temperature you set it at. If it senses more sunlight, it'll factor that into it's calculations as extra heat.

BTW the cover and the piece you revealed are actually the same piece... you may have broken it. Or at least when they ordered a new cover for mine the sensor was attached to it and it's a bitch to get that sensor out to replace it.

It's a solid black piece of plastic. How can light get through it? Or maybe it's one of lifes little secrets!
