Went to dealer, asked about S/C
While getting some stuff done to the car, I asked about the S/C & transmission warranty. The main service rep I deal with is well aware that I race it at the track all the time because I see one of the mechanics down there everytime I go, so he's already weary of me asking for shit under warranty.
He said that if I had the comptech s/c installed, that my transmission warranty would no longer be valid. The mechanic that I always see at the track was there too, and he was somewhat on my side and said 'even if its the comptech one'? and the service rep said yes.
I don't think the service rep even knows what a comptech is, much less their level of support for Acura.
Has anyone else heard that the transmission warranty would become null & void if the s/c was to be installed??

I would bet the chances of having any dealer warranty the tranny w/ the S/C on would be just about zero. I think linking the tranny failure to the increased power generated by the S/C would be pretty easy (although not necessarily correct given the history of the tranny). I say drive it like you stole it, fry the tranny, get the new "updated" one and then go S/C

some dealers are being cool about the S/C...some arent, my dealer said they would warranty the tranny still because they know there is a problem with the tranny regardless of the S/C (obviously, the reason that acura gave us the free extended warranty) so i think its just going to be a matter of talking to them and reasoning with them and explaining the circumstances if they are being weary....my dealer did say that any major engine failure wouldnt be covered anymore but the tranny would be. and how likely is an engine failure anyhow??! very unlikely...so i wouldnt be worried at all to put a S/C on my automatic....now if i could only find 4,000 dollars lying around somewhere....hmmmmm

I didn't want to pick up new car payments, so I opted out of the deal.
