Welp, my CL-S got damaged by a SUV :(

http://www.5thgenmaximas.com/silverbullet/clsdamage/

Yep....

I didn't even see it happen or the vehicle who did it

Anyways, I was at Walmart for a while, came out, and thought my hood was open. Nope, car was hit by something high enough to go over my bumper and hit my hood/grill. The bumper has a tear in it where I circled as well. Damn it!

I am not gonna go through insurance on this, I just hope a new hood doesn't cost alot.

$500 deductible, and the repairs will cost around that per a body shop friend that I already talked too. No reason to report it and have it on my record for a hit and run hit my car. That is why.

I will find out how much it costs, then go through insurance if its more than what I want to pay. But I doubt it will be near $1000. Hoods around 200-300 OEM. Bumper can be repaired. Paint and labor, $400~

Don't let anyone tell you that the hood is repairable. Getting hit on the crease like that, it will never be the same. Get the hood replaced.

That shit happened to me too, except I saw the guy hit me (he was in a 2 ton Ford F-350 super duty with a full brush guard). However, he is trying to blame the damage on me....and he REAR ENDED ME!...It's like people in SUV's think they own the road.....sorry, just had to vent a little...

Alarm doesn't go off for stuff like that. Only if the door was opened it will go off.

What are you doing at Wal-mart anyway.....?

Sorry to hear about your damage; were you parked amongst all the general public who don't care about their cars?

Also it might be time to adjust your insurance so it will be usable when you need it. Trust me the ability to use insurance (or an extended warranty) takes away alot of the grief and anger and stress....might cost a few more bucks but it's worth it [to me].

Best guess, $800 with labor to fix that - replace hood, fix and repaint bumper.

It will not effect your insurance cause it would be probably under uninsured or comprehensive and you did not cause the problem.

Agreed....I am gonna look into that.

I just parked close to the front, maybe about 1/4 way down a isle. But I just saw what the damn vehicle was that hit me (walmart cameras caught it, BUT, no license plate can be seen). It was a damn Ford Excursion. Some lady hit me, got out, looked, and got back in and left. Son of a B!!!!

Well it does not look that bad, basically just the hood is the expensive item.

Damn, just reading this gets me all fired up. I can't believe how careless and dishonest people are nowadays. Some bitch does $1k+ worth of damage to a car because she's incompetent behind the wheel of a vehicle that is that large, and she just drives away.

Hopefully she'll get her comeuppance down the road. Probably when she's trying to back out of her garage, but floors it in 'D' instead and mows through the wall of her house.

Damn - Just saw your post. I hate when dishonest people do that shit man. The same shit happened to me about a couple months ago, and i parked at the end of the row of a lot, so no one could door ding me. Just so happens that the person that pulled beside me happened to scrape their bumper on my back bumper trying to make a quarter turn. I got white paint on the corner of my bumper and it pisses me off everytime i wash my car.

I feel your pain man!

Well, that's b/c the CL-S/TL-S doesn't come with an alarm.. it has keyless entry (hence the key fob) and an anti-theft system. The only way the siren will sound is if the car door is opened or someone tries to start the car. Your window and be broken and the alarm won't go off unless the person opens the door or tries to hotwire the car. If he had a shock sensor installed, then the siren would have sounded on impact.

Anway, sorry to hear about this. Shit like this pisses me off. Some people have no respect. It's shit like this that is going to have me put a camera in the car.. one facing front and one facing rear. It will catch anything. Once I have some extra money to play with I'll be looking into this.....

Good luck with getting it fixed....

I would stalk out the Wal-Mart parking lot where this happened for a few days.
Go there around the same time of day as the person might shop there often.
Maybe you’ll see the truck that you saw on the security camera and see some damage on the trailer hitch.
If it’s a perfect match for the damage on your hood, I’d say you have a case.
Maybe you might even find some of your paint on the other vehicle.

Just a thought.
And then they would also be fined for leaving the scene of an accident.

Did you get a copy of the security tape ?

No, I’m lucky if I see the inside of Wal-Mart three or four times a year.
But my wife is there like EVERY WEEK shopping with her sisters !!!

That’s why I said to check back often and look for the truck.

When I visit SAM’S CLUB which is right next to my local Wal-Mart I park WAAAAAY out by the road so this type of thing doesn’t happen to me.
Even if it’s RAINING !!!
