well, the valet likes the 6MT at least......

.... valet parking in DC yesterday evening (only option) - when I get the car back, the kid (20's) says (with big smile): "Man - you gotta be careful. This car's got some power.

I know these guys drive these cars too fast, but still - it was a nice little compliment.

And no dings anywhere.

I absolutely despise valet parking.

Here in Philly there was a recent scandal when it was discovered that some downtown valet parking operations at chi-chi restaurants were sans insurance. Did you ask for their proof of insurance before you handed the keys to them?

Personally, I go out of my way to avoid these bloodsuckers.

My one friend used to be a valet guy in Florida while in college.
He’s got quite a few stories about little high-speed “joy rides” some of the guys took in customers cars.

One involved a new Porsche 928S4, a ground effects kit and a quick Duck tape repair job.
I’m sworn to secrecy on the rest of the story.

Ever since I watched 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off', there is no way in hell I'd ever give my car to one of those guys.

Maybe the 20 year old's smile was trying to hide the fact that he missed a gear shift and the clutch was screaming for his daddy!!!

Oh man, I would never let anyone valet my car, at any time. No way in hell.

My friend drove my car for the first time (he's got an older Ford Explorer) and constantly squealed the tires because he wasn't used to the hp. This was with my old tires, but still, him squealing all up and down a huge multi-level parking lot was funny.

Man, even in my ancient Legend and with a date I find somewhere else to park and walk to avoid valet. I'm on my way over to pick up my 6MT. With no guard strip on the doors I gonna be pretty paranoid about parking. The only dents my Legend ever got were from parking lots--front fender and again rear fender from bone heads who obviously had the steering cranked while backing out next to me (hit & run for both).

My previous car's (Nissan 240 sx) clutch went 1 day after I valet parked in Vegas. I was up $500 playing blackjack and guess what, ..... that's exactly what my new clutch cost.

Yeah, Really!

Especially in DC!

I spent 2 years parking downtown either at Vermont Ave. and L St. or at Vermont Ave and K St, NW. I would never let the garage attendants park any of my cars! [I've treated too many of them in drug rehab to trust them!]
