Weird Weird Gas Mileage Problem

So for the last few months or so (I have 36k miles on the car) I have noticed my gas mileage in the city has decreased dramatically. Used to be 15-17 when I pushed the car HARD, and now when im lighter on it during this time I'm only getting 12-14 mpg. HOWEVER, on the highway the car is still getting the same mileage as it used to. I don't hear a header leak from my alpha werks, and have a small hairline crack on the header but i dont think it even pierced all the way through. My tire pressure is fine, but my drivers firewall is really ticking loud these days and I think it might be the purge valve.

What other things should I do/try and if I can't figure it out who should I bring it to to look at cuz I dont want to pay too much

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you've got a cracked header it going to tick badly. Not sure how that would efect fuel consumption though.

Thats the thing its not a cracked header at all....nor does it leak as far as I can tell, the only ticking is from the drivers firewall the purge valve and was wondering if that could be the mileage problem

Are you making frequent short trips more often that usual?

Has it gotten colder down there?

It's bloody freezing up here, and I make short trips to class and such. It hits the gas mileage HARD. But when I'm driving on the highway or on longer trips, the engine becomes fully warmed up and gets the usual gas mileage. But I'm talking bloody freezing and short trips like, the engine is idling at 1300 RPM when I first start it, and driving for literally like a mile to class, then back later on a cold engine again, 2-4 times a day. The gas mileage is SHOT.

Most likely the purge valve. Mines still not fixed right. It was replaced & found to be bad after a few miles of driving. Waiting for the new one to come in. However my milage is real bad in town. I get about 200 miles to a tank all local driving. HW is fine just like you I went to Orlando & still had a little under a half a tank left. If you have a code scanner see if there's a P1457 stored. That's the purge valve code.
