Weight Reduction.

Any one here know a way to start shaving off some pounds at 3500 lbs this car aint light. Ive heard of the Weight Reduction kits and shit you can do but I dont wanna tear my car apart and remove the rear seats. I still want the car to be 100% functionable (all 4 seats) included. Just wanna try to Lighten it up. Any Ideas? Hit me back Thanks.

here is what i did... CF HOOD saved 30-lbs, lightweight battery(13lbs) (saves another 40lbs), you can then get lightweight rims for around 30lbs ish more, you can also get a cf trunk (one member has one) i dunno how much it saves prolly 20lbs ish, of course the comptech headers and exhaust is lighter on the car also than the original. so im guessing you can save anywhere from 100-200 lbs off the car, on top of the sparetire, and tools thing. that should put you at the honda accord weight or very near it with more HP!. hope that helps

you can also have barely any gas in there when your at the track... like 1/8 tank to save on poundage. and take a dump and pee before you run to loose that extra lb or so

i took a dremel and shaved off all the excess metal off all the screws and bolts in my engine bay and also anywhere else I could find. I got a coffee cup full of extra metal. I also took off extra silly plastic brackets in engine bay. I removed the insulation on the underside of the hood and trunk and my intake sounds better

take off mud flaps if you have any. If ya wanna be ballsy, rip out your wheel well liners. get some cross drilled rotors and aftermarket brakes. throw away your ashtray and cigarette lighter. and don't let any fat girls ride with you

BUt serously, you're not reduce the weight to anything extreme through normal mods. Our cars are heavy. That coupled with limited aftermarket support, you'll be paying a lot to get that weight down.

BTW-she only weighs 113 pounds for the record, she's by no means a large person.

Dude I'm sorry, but you're ridiculous to take out all that shit to try and save weight. You might have saved 5 pounds (MAYBE). Also if you take out the inner wheels liners it's the worst thing you can do. Rocks will shoot up into your fender and dent it from the inside chipping the shit out of your paint.
I would get rid of the spare/jack/tools. And if you want the seats to be fully funtional get lightweight seats . Don't let fat bitches in your car and go running once in a while you fat peice of shit.

There's really not any big weight reductions you can do to our cars without sacrificing comfort and luxury. But at that point, you would be destroying the point of buying the car in the first place.

But if you wanted to, you can have the car stripped down to bare chassis, dip it in acid, reinforce, then only put back in parts you need. But then, you are talking race chassis... totally not right for our cars.

Hell, just take off the hood, trunk, and doors. Wouldn't be the best aerodynamics, but hey, it's weight reduction

This is what I did and I started with 3280lbs on AV6

1. Carbon fiber hood
2. Light (13# each) rims
3. No back seat/no spare/tools/jack (not a daily driver)
4. Light battery.
5. Hollow front sway bar

Over 120lbs gone

Next, Sparco light weight seats
The rest is pointless unless you strip the interior and get rid of all seats except yours

I know on the CLS-6 there's a really heavy (25# )noise/vibration damper in front of the radiator that is easily removed with two bolts.

Don't forget driving naked.

Getting rid of those pesky clothes can save you 2lbs at least.

You only really need three wheels. Tricycles do just fine with em..

No, really: our cars can't shed much (of a percentage of their) weight.

if you do some serious tracking and are really worried about the weight, along with all the mods that people have mentioned already, you could also shave off at least 150 lbs by just replacing all the glass on the car with an equivalent lexan product.

but that'll be a pretty penny!

CF hood do not save you 30 lbs, more like 15 lbs. My current wheel is 17.6 lbs each, stock is 27 lbs. You can save about 40 lbs there.

Or you could just sell the CL and buy a weight reduced Integra Type R

On second thought, just supercharge it and then don't worry about the excess weight

Here's how I got my car down to ~2800 lbs...

Seriously though, you're in the wrong car if you're looking for light weight.
