Weapon R Intake Yea or nah?

Ok it looks like the weapon R dragon intake is the best bet for a fit and finish Short Ram intake for the CL type S. I found a site that is selling the brand new 2002 Dragon intake for $160. I might just go for it at this point. Are there any reasons why I shouldn't go with this unit? I have heard that a lot of people are very happy with them and the gains are good too.

Can anyone honestly say they can FEEL the difference after they put only an intake in? That is all I am looking for. A tiny bit more SOTP feeling.

Thanks

Go with AEM CAI, it's better. The short ram is doing nothing but sucking the hot air from the engine. One good thing about short ram is that it's louder than CAI.

But I thought I read that once the car is moving the cold air rushes into the engine anyway making the difference between Short Ram and CAI almost nothing. Isn't the stock airbox still getting hot air as well from a stop?

The only time I would buy the Weapon R intake is with the Cold air add on. If not , just choose the AEM.

Ok I guess this is my next question then......

If I buy the AEM CAI how hard is the install and is there a way that I don't have to fabricate the pipe to fit the water protection on? Ah now I am back to not wanting to do anything i guess. That just seems like so much work for no noticable feel.

I could care less about spending $250 for the "cool" sound

Does AEM make a shortram for our car?

Also, if you're thinking about WeaponR, you might as well just go with:

Volvo C70 driver will make you your very own custom intake and it'll be better quality than WeaponRetarded.

you could always cut the pipe to make the AEM a short ram

but

why?

short ram is louder and makes less hp than a CAI

go with the AEM CAI

and

just dont drive through high waters

I wouldn't sell WeaponR short just yet. Some people saw the WR Cold Air Box on my Legend at the Seattle meet. Most people liked it. You have the advantages of the short ram intake with the cold air you want plus the easy maintainability of the filter. The WR CAB should be out soon for the CL/TL's.

Just beacuse WeaponR jumped on the bandwagon and produces clear corners, floormats, and type-r this and that does not automatically illegitamate their entire product line. Many have already heard the big flap about the foam filter that WR uses. I can tell you that Legend owners have had 2 choices for intakes....that's right just two. Many many owners are very happy with their WR short ram intake and have never had an issue with filter foam ingestion. I was very happy they made the CAB for our cars as well. When you own a car that is no longer in producion you cannot overlook the few brands that are continuing to support you. Just be happy they are producing products for your car and please don't comment on something you haven't owned.

Some people aren't any better than the some of the 'ricers' that buy weapon 'rice', you guys hear something from one person and suddenly, "yeah that shit is ricey".....time and time again...but yeah...just wanted to let all you non-believers...that the WR w/CAB makes MORE POWER THAN YOUR AEM WITH BYPASS...AND THE ROUGHLY THE SAME AMOUNT FOR THOSE WITHOUT. End of my spiel....the choice is yours tho...I have no problems with mine. That's my opinon.

I'd go WeaponR purely because of filter maintainability. The only reason why I wouldnt is the $$$ involved (short ram + box dont come cheap) and possibly the noise (which is subjective). I'f I had the choice to design my own intake, I'd go the box route.

If you make me one for $100 will it be as good a fit and look cool? And I would rather a K&N cone on the bottem than foam. But I might pay ya for it.

Got any pictures of one?

I was just saying....that it was cheaper..if you ordered through weapon-r directly...he had 10 of them for like $250 or something...intake and CAB....dunno if he has anymore though. Hey...choose what you like...that's the whole thing...don't let other people TELL you what to buy, only way you'll ever know is to try it yourself.
