Weapon R got something new for our car in the making

According to www.Weapon-R.com they're suppose to be process in making a ECU(which I think is a "power chip")(I looked at a IS300 dyno before and after after the chip it jumped it 25-30 HP

Speaking of chip upgrades, i was talking to Motorsport Dynamics in Sacramento today and he said they were gonna be a distributor for Unichip ? i think. Moo, what do you know about them. He thought they would have something for our cars. Does that sound right ?

Could someone explain anything or net gains and understandings from this chip. Is it worth it? Anyone purchased and used yet?

Email I sent to WeaponR

Hi,

My name is Joe Kim. I'm a moderator for www.acura-cl.com (NOVAwhiteTypeS) I am very interested in your weapon R ecu and see that it is available from Import studio . Could you please give me some more info on this product and possibly a dyno for the CL typeS so I can forward this information to our members. Im sure after a dyno we will have members jumping to buy this product, especially after seeing gains that you achieved for the GS and IS.

Best Regards,

Joe Kim

Last we heard that it was the wrong chip for CLS ...

No one tuned it for CLS.... I believe that with mods it should be retuned too...

I'm curious to see what their response to that e-mail is....

Also, why the Hell are performance parts so damn expensive for our cars???

ECU & Headers = $2,000+ That's' insane!!

Oh yeah.. and don't forget the $5,000 SuperCharger!!

Thats basically what superchargers are. BMW's, Corvettes, etc are much more than 5g. Corvette is 9, BMW is anywhere from 7-10, and the NSX is 10g.

Yep...maybe Comptech lowered the potential of it because of the tranny problems. Also, someone on here said that our tranny could only hold 340-360hp (sorry, dont remember who said it) so what would be the point of buying one. Then again, if it only gives you 50hp, why even make one? Maybe for 5g they include a Level 10 Tranny yea right

Moomaster has tight relationships with Leo from Weopon R. I think you should give him a PM and ask for more details.

Maybe this is old news for some, but this is the first I've heard of it.

AWESOME news -- I'm glad to see more and more companies bringing out mods for the CL-S, instead of the usual suspects (Comptech, etc). One nice thing about my 97 Civic Coupe -- TONS of aftermarket options available.

Does anybody know what kind of gains this will actually produce in OUR CAR??

Also, I am assuming that those 15-20 HP gaines were at the Wheels...(they better be for $700)!!!

Also, what is the install like for these things???

i dont think 20 hp would be a bad thing atleast its a little cheaper per hp than those way over priced headers

NOT YET...

I just spoke to them today & they said they still have some Honda bugs to work out...

The good thing is that they will tune the piggyback according to the mods in your car... meaning that u can call them up w/ a list of modifications to your car & custom order your computer. You could also ship it back for retuning if you continue modding afterwards as well...

So, it turns out you can't tune it yourself like an AFC but they can do it for you... probably for a pretty penny.

So, i think it would be a good buy once everyone is happy w/ all of their mods. This would be the icing on the cake...

That's nice that they are offering it, but holy fuck! Even $650 is rediculous for a chip. It really sucks everything is so expensive for our cars. I look at Mustangs and even Civics and stuff and a chip is $300 at the most. And headers start at under $200. Crazy. If the mods were that cheap I'd already have had everything for a year.

Before you put up a topic that says: "Weapon R ECU available NOW!!!" make sure u know wtf u are talking bout... and don't use a line like this in your post: "they're suppose to be process in making a ECU.." Cause u already knwo that your topic ain't true..

Dustin, aka moomaster99 is the guinea pig and Leo from WeaponR is a personal friend of his. So if his car doesn't have the ECU yet, no one does. Sheesh ppl, you need to validate ur so-called stories before you go live with it....

Ummm... just supposed res #2 does actually come out. I can't
imagine those two working in conjuction. And if res #2 is legit,
it's supposed to have 50% of the gains at 25% of the price.
I'll wait till both come out, no point in spending my money twice.

right? Something about adjusting or fooling the current ecu.
I can't imagine it working at the same time as a new ecu.

Umm, when mod #1 is fooling the input signals to the ecu
you cant reprogram the ecu to add on to that.

WeaponR said this is a reprogramable unit. so if you have only a cai u can set it for that or if u have i/h/e for that .
