Warpped Rotors not covered?? WTF???

I brought my CLS in this morning for an oil change, and I mentioned that I have vibration coming from the front brakes when braking at freeway speed. Service person told me the rotor(s) are probably warpped (duh.). I ask him to replace them under warranty (my car has 26500 miles). He said it's not covered.

WHAT?? I thought some board members have theirs replaced under warranty, together with new pads? There's even a TSB out for it:

Component Description:
8.BRAKES:HYDRAULIC: DISC: PADS AND SHOES
NHTSA Number: SB626239
Bulletin Number: 01017
Bulletin Date: OCT 2001

Vehicle: 2001 Acura CL
Summary:
VEHICLES MAY EXPERIENCE BRAKE PEDAL PULSE. *JB

WHAT SHOULD I DO?? Help please!

i coulda sworn the rotors are under warranty until 15K, then u're on yer own

i think they make a distinction between when u get the rotors cut and having them totally replaced

Maybe just resurfacing is covered by the TSB.

Wraped rotors at 26000K miles? Have you thought that this might be normal tear and wear?
Brakes pads need replacing approximatly every 30K miles if you drive in the city... Rotors can get wrapped something too, it might be normal..

LOL!

You need to be more forceful with them, get a little rude and crazy.

Understand that the majority of these people you are dealing with are insolent, lazy, and UNWILLING to treat valued customers properly.

They tried to do that to me, until i had other dealerships fax to me, IN WRITING, that its covered under warranty.

I know, and I sincerely thank him for supplying valuable info often on this board.

The problem is, if I tell the service person "a collegue of yours from Kingston, Pennsylvania told me that rotors are covered 48/50", how do you think the service person will react?

like this probably --->

If I can get this info published in writing somewhere, my problem is solved.

At the house, and I am at the office.

Seriously Randy, go over there and be a TOTAL prick.

They just want your money.

You should belittle them, and ask to speak to the HEAD of SERVICE.

I RAGED on them, and got my $$$ back.

If you need it in writing, I can bring it to work tomorrow and fax it to you.

Man oh man.....

I was the one with the issues and about 10 post on this subject. Acura does replace the rotors. I don't know what Bullshit dealer you are going too, but have them call Ticsher Acura in Laurel, MD. If that doesn't work call Radley Acura in Fairfax, Virginia. I went to Tischer Laurel and I had my brakes replaced and my rotors resurfaced. The 2nd time i went in, I got a set of new brake pads and a set of new rotors. Like i said, I was the one who said there was bulletin out there awhile ago back, and ACURA does replace them! Or at least update the pads for you and resurface the rotors under warranty. I don't know what to tell you.....Maybe ship your car to MD and get it done free, but doing that, you might as well pay for the $210.

i bought my car used about a year ago with about 28,000 miles. Since then i driven 24 k and have had to resurface the rotor twice and am start to get a little vibration again.

The service guy told me last time, that if i come in again they would replace the front brakes. I definetly think the new pads for 2002 work better at helping reduce resurfacing but i think there's a problem with all CL brakes.

**********I'M ON THE PHONE WITH THEM**********

i'm on the phone with acura of america. they are denying me gettting my bakes done as we speak!!!!!!!

i have 19k, i've had my rotors resurfaced Twice.....the first time they replaced the pads with the same old model pads........they second time i requested that they put on the upgraded pads, and they put the same EXACT pads on!!!! not new pads, but the same ones after resurfaceing!!!

now that it's 1000 miles more on my car, it's vibrating again!!!

and they are deying me service only 1000 miles of the new rotors!!!!!!!!

*update*

i just got off the phone with acura of america, they told me that the service bulliten tells the dealer to resurface the rotors, and to replace the pads with the upgraded part number 45022-S0K-A11 which are the new pads number

then they told me to call the dealership to find out if the put those new pads on

well, i just called the dealer and guess what!!!!!!!!!
they resurface my rotors twice now and tossed on the SAME pads each time!!!!!!!!! which means that the dealership is now denying me the service bulletin!!!!

i'm about to call acura of american right now and rip on them more about this. they don't understand that they sold me a car that has a problem and i keep having to inconvenience my self every other week for this problem, and now they are giving me the boot.

(on a side note, i even have the 100,000 warranty and have bought two cars from them over the years)

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

calling now

Keep us posted Jeff. I had my rotors resurfaced at 11k, but they didn't change the pads. I'm at 22k now with no further problems, but i'd like to be prepared just in case. Good luck.

well i called acura of america back and got the same guy i talked to just a bit ago ( cookie ) and i told him that i called my dealer, they looked up my car history with the rotors, saw that i had them resurface twice, and saw that they put the same worn out pads back on both times. so basically, the dealership FAILED to follow the warranty service and replace the pads!

but actually, the service bulletins weren't out yet when they did my rotors the two times. but still, they shouldn't be putting the old pads back on because they are shot too.

so basically, i'm going to force my dealer to give me the right to the new service bulletin and resurface AND replace the pads with the new upgraded pads at least this once. but the dealership is not entitled to do this service more than once. it's at their discression.

grrrrrrrrrr i'm still pissed

( don't mind my grammer, i'm very annoyed right now with acura)

They did it for me finally. Thanks for all your help guys!!

I can't believe both the dealership and ACURA CUSTOMER SERVICE tried to deny me warranty coverage on a problem they know existed. Total Luxury Care my ass!

Acura's reputation has just went down the drain in my book... :thumbsdn:

Just tell them to look for TSB 10107. Print out TypeSDragon's robocop22's response and us it to support you.

Unleash hell on them if they still try to BS you.

I have a 2001 3.2CL, 23,500 miles. Printed out the TSB, brought it to my dealer,Paragon, in LIC, NY, they replaced both rotors, and pads, free! Told me they're fighting with Acura corporate, over this issue. Service Mgr., told me if the rotors were re-surfaced, I'd be back 2 weeks later complaining again. They're GREAT people over there. I bought the car at a N.J. dealer. I service it in Queens, because of convenience. Go see Jeff, Mike, or Rocco; all great guys. P.S. The work was supposed to take 2 hours. It was done, with a full oil change & car wash in 1 hour20 minutes!

RandyMax,

Which dealer did you deal with in southern cali? I have heard that the service department at Tustin Acura were pretty good. Just wondering! Oh yeah, Got my rotors resurfaced with new brake pads at 28500 during my 30K service from Los Gatos Acura with no problems.

I recently had to turn the rotors again because the shimmering came back (48k miles). Talked to WeirCanyon, Tustin, and Mission Viejo. None of them will turn them under warranty.

I had to shell out $120 to turn them.
