want to paint my calipers, but what color
i'm looking for some advice for caliper color on my SSM. up until i saw this pic (thanks 03silvertypeS):
...i was planning to paint them black to continue my sleeper look. but I agree with ronjon that the black is a flat spot in the area (IMO). 03silvertypeS, is that flat black or is it gloss black? if it's flat, then maybe my gloss black will look ok.
i'm in the process of swapping the front calipers for Legend LS calipers and now's the time to paint them while they're still off the car.
anyone have pics with silver painted calipers on an SSM? i don't want to go red since they'll catch too much attention (and since they're not BBKs).
what do you guys think? post some painted caliper pics if you got 'em.

Paint them gloss black for a stealthy appearance. They'll be less noticable that way. That's what I did and IMO, it looks really clean when you take a good look. Also if you paint them a different color, I think it takes away from the wheels.

mine are either a gloss black or a semi gloss black. They're definitely not flat, especially if you look up close. I will have to ask Smitty for the exact specs though. Personally, I think they look better in person, but I do agree w/ RJ about having ACURA or something in silver lettering on the calipers. I will try to take a couple of better, closer pics so you can see the calipers better. Unfortunately, my CL's gonna be out of commission for a week or so, so that little project (along w/ strut bar, pulleys, etc) will be put on hold.

they look much glossier in those ^^^^ pics. maybe it was just the angle in the first pic that made them look dull. i'll paint mine black.
thanks for the close-ups.

Paint them blue! You can get a blue top optima battery to match and hopefully the AEM CAI you got is already blue. Then you can also get a blue grounding kit! I have a SSM also, i think blue is nice becasue the SSM has a very slight blue-ish hue to it. Red is too played out.
Gotta find the right color blue though.

i used Dupli-Color's caliper paint kit. it's about $16 at Autozone and O'reilly's and well worth it. i've talked to many people who have used the red and love it (including my dad on his black C6). i went with black to keep my sleeper look going.
btw, it's not spray paint. it comes with a brush which is nice. you don't have to worry about overspray with a brush. you'll probably want a wire brush and an extra can of caliper (or brake) cleaner.

you could leave the calipers on the car and mask off the rotor.
either way you do it, take your time. i walked past a civic the other day and saw red calipers. i looked closer and it looked like the kid used crayons. he was better of leaving them unpainted.
