vtec controller or not

vtec controller or not

I have an 01 CL-S and a friend of mine was tellin me that I should buy a vtec controller for my car and I was wondering if its worth buying cause I don't know too much about them.

Im pretty sure the designers put the engage point where it is for a reason. Most likely for the best achieved performance.

I have a VTEC controller...

Yes you can set VTEC to kick in at 3K or whatever. This basically gets you better mid range performance, but worse top end performance, which of course is what our engines were designed for. It can be used to adjust a/f ratio. This helps because last time my car was dyno'd, it became too lean in VTEC and making sure there is a good ratio will unlock small amounts of power. Ideally though for cost vs. benefit, for it to really help you out, you need mods. If you are really thinking about deeply modding your car, especially forced induction, you will need more engine mangement than a VTEC controller anyways.

I don't think you need it. IMO, our car is well tuned. I will say that I think I got better performance with the UNIchip, but I never dynoed it, so I can't say for sure.

I had my UniChip dynoed and tuned, it's worth it as long as you don't buy new. Or else you're paying 100 bux per 1 hp.
