The ECU does a pretty good job of it.

Just an adjustment. You can have Vtec kick in sooner or later in the rpm band. Just an adjustment.

Unless you're really modified, I would leave it were it is.

i wouldnt mess with it either. save the money and get headers, that will let the engine breath a whole lot better, and u will def feel the power increase.

besides 09IM and pnp. ur set.

im not sure if the ecu will correct the vtec engagement point after a while. or ecus are very smart and picky. i had a afc neo to give more fuel when i spray, it worked but after a few passes/min the ecu over rode it and went back to stock setting so i had to turn off the car and put in my adjustments in again. only happened twice to me bc i didnt spray all the time. get a good tune and ur set

Why? What research have you done to conclude that this is going to be a benefit to you?

Or is it just something to tinker with?

I don't think you have enough mods to justify changing it.

I've seen other forums discussing the reason you don't want VTEC to kick in earlier and it comes down to loss of power. You'll make no more horsepower and won't be far enough into the torque band to benefit. Total waste of money. As others have said, there's a reason it's set where it is. Don't fuck with it. You're 18 and think you know more about cars then an engineer that designed them?

Motion 2nd'ed. With a non-Vtec car, when you get a high lift longer duration cam, you sacrifice low end power for top end. The benefit of Vtec is that both cam profiles are optimized for the RPM ranges they operate in. If you lower the Vtec point to 3500, I'd venture to guess it would result in lost power especially since it would switch over before the IMRC even opens up. Vtec is not a magic power adder, it is an engineered system designed to operate within the parameters that the engineers set...

Wow, someone got pussy hurt real quick. Plenty of people said leave it be, there's no benefit in fact you'll lose power and still you kept pushing for it. Sounds like a young kid move to me.

Well when I served in the military we had a simple saying. "If its working fine and nothing is wrong...don't fuck with it."

instead of changing V-tec why don't you just find someone to make you some custom cams so you have the big duration all the time?

If you're not a tuner, and don't have major mods i'd leave it where it is. They can be functional, but only if you know what you're doing with them. I have a VAFC II in my car, and i actually gained HP by lowering vtec engagement while it was on the dyno, but it was only maybe 300 rpm or so from stock.( It was at 5k, i put it at 4.7k ). I'd say a tune would be money better spent.
