Vsa/traction Control

Does the VSA indicator come on when the traction control engages? Switching the VSA off, is the traction control also off?

RE: the indicator coming on when traction control engages... Most of the time (there have been some times that it either blinked too fast for me to see it coming on, or it wouldn't blink in certain conditions. I was driving very fast into a hairpin with 2" crumbly rocks on the road, and the VSA turned the throttle down so hard, it was like hitting the brakes -- me and my passenger did NOT see the light come on.) OTOH -- I have seen it come on in off-the line situations and in wet patches on negative camber turns (people, please adjust those sprinklers and save some water).

I am pretty sure that the traction control is off with the VSA off (VSA light will stay on). If I'm on a paint strip (I have sticky tires) and get the tires to light-up, I can get an OK patch from one or both tires -- so the traction control has to be off (it wont do this with the VSA on [at least it wont do it for me])

Acura Care told me that people in the East Coast, were instructed to turn the VSA OFF, to disable the traction control, to get up ice-covered driveways (go figure)
