vsa on, car shuts off...help

i've had my car for just over 9 years now. on my third tranny.. been driving fine now for a couple of years since i got latest trans installed. just replaced my timing belt along with water pump, front and side engine mounts, and front right ball joint 2 weeks ago. car sounds and feels brand new. also put in new cabin filter yesterday. all of a sudden while driving to work today, my car shuts off while going around 25 mph. pulled over thankfully without hitting anybody and tried to start it up again. nothing happens. waited about a minute and tried again with success. only problem is that the vsa light along the ! light remained on. i continued my 15 minute ride to work without any problems. four hours later i leave work and the lights never turn back on and the car is driving normally again.

does anybody have any idea as to what the problem may be?? i don't think it's the trans again since the check engine light never came on and the car wasn't jumping or shifting improperly. thanks for any help.

one more question. i took my car to the dealer couple of weeks ago just to get an idea of what was wrong with my car then. they told me timing belt needs replacing, engine mounts, and ball joints. price was somewhere around 4000. i said yeah, ok (sarcastically) and went somewhere else for just under 1000. Now, you think if i take it back to that same dealership to check out this problem, they might say something to me? or would they just look at it, and give me another outrageous estimate??

they can't really say anything about you going somewhere else unless you're trying to get warranty work done. It's not up to them who you get your work done with.
