Viper Alarm

I'm looking into an aftermarket alarm and there is a shop local to me that can install the Viper 550 ESP for $500 flat!

The package includes the following:
- 2 4-button transmitters
- 4 channel receiver
- PC/bitwriter programmable (not big deal for me)
- remote starter
- power door locks
- power trunk
- parking light flash
- 5 zone identification
- ghost switch (hides valet override in plain sight) dummy switch i guess
- owner recognition (vehicle recognizes me and configures itself accordingly) no clue what that means
- rapid resume logic
- Status LED

They use the Stinger DoubleGuard Shock Sensor

In addition if he will install shock sensors for my headlights for free. All I have to do is supply the sensors!!

Any and all feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks!

That is not a bad deal. I had a 92 Nissian Maxima and I had a friend who worked for an alarm company. Basically he installed the Viper 550esp alarm with all the options you listed plus window roll down options for me. I would definitely recommend you get the window rolldown option, they are bomb! Although they are quite pricey. The entire install from him was a little over $500, with a discount. So you are getting not a terribly bad price!

Did prices go up? I paid $390 for the exact alarm, with the same options, just about 1 year ago. It wasn't on the CL-S, but another car I had. It needed the bypass thing too. $500 sounds high to me, but then again, maybe it depends on area, & demand like window tint.

Good choice of alarm, that's basically all we install. Just so you know, we do the same alarm, installed, with all the same options for $450. I do know places that will do it for cheaper, but we always include ALL parts, including the DEI 555U for the remote start (did he mention that you needed that and a spare key I hope?)

Anyway, the way prices are rising, $500 is still not a bad deal if ALL is included in the price, including that above mentioned DEI part.

Looks like I MAY be driving into New Jersey again for more CL modifications.
We’ll have to talk at the Park Ave MEET.

The viper remote has an aux button that you can program to pop open your trunk. Since my stock remote has that, I want to carry it over to my new alarm.

I have no idea what the hell owner recognition means. My guess is that it knows when I'm sitting in the car and it automatically disables the sharp stainless steel blades from popping out from under the drivers seat!! COOL FEATURE HUH!!!

That isn't possible because acura only built that feature in to remotely unlock the trunk latch. The trunk isn't powered by anything!!

Just means the remotes can be personalized. Sorta like our factory remotes are tied to either of the 2 memory seat positions. You can program each remote to do different things.

So I can program the remote to remember my seat position? If thats the case then GREAT!! I was hoping not to lose that function.
