VIN number information?
VIN number information?
does anyone know how to extract information from a CL VIN number. Specifically the build month/year? I know its on the plate on the driver's door but I want to be able to do it from the internet.
VIN = 17 digit number; for our car:
19U - indicates Honda brand, and made in America
YA4 - CL model
n - 1 indicates 6 speed, 2 indicates auto
n - submodel: 3 indicates base, 4 indicates premium, 5 indicates premium w/Navi, 6 indicates Type S, 7 indicates Type S w/Navi
1 - check digit
3 - year, 3 indicating 2003 (1 indicates 2001...)
A - factory, A indicating Marysville, OH
123456 - 'serial number', sequential number assigned, not necessarily time off/on assembly line
The build date is listed separately. The VIN numbers are assigned sequentially, but don't necessarily indicate time of emergence from factory. Manuals and Auto VINs are mixed together in the 2003 model year.
