valve adjustment

I was wondering when i get a valve adjustment would it be a good idea to swap out the exhaust springs to the 07 tl-s exhaust springs? I think I read someone doing this before. Is it a direct swap and would it be worth it/beneficial?

well on the v6 performance website an accord owner has the cl engine in his car and upgraded to 07 tl-s exhaust springs and this is response he gave there.

"why switch to the TL exhaust springs??"

"protects from over-rev. a tip i got from paul"

thats the only info i have found on this so far.

They are stronger then the stock A2 springs so theres less of a chance of dropping a valve at higher rpms.

I think you can reuse the stock retainers. Ask Paul.

it is a upgrade the 3rd gen base tl guys are doing it also. might as well change the cam to the tls or the rl ( its lighter, faster revs) but u will need some kind of spacer if im not mistaken.

I'm running the 08 TLS exhaust springs. The spring rate is a bit stiffer so its really better insurance of chance of over rev and bending all your exhaust valves. I'm also running the 08 TLS cams. They are forged hollow core so it spins a bit more feely and the lift is a bit higher. When they are in the head, The clearance from the lobe to the head is close. They are not direct drop in and need a spacer to work. It was too bad I didn't have a before and after dyno of the cams as I did a bunch of other work when I had my heads opened up.

might make a thread sooner or later

spacer is custom. You need it because the width of the 08 tls is shorter, and you need to make up the length.

I wonder why no one mentioned going all out while your in there. If your going to change the valves and do the adjustments why not put in new valve springs and retainers. They finally make a performance set-up for our motors. A little pricey though...

yea ive seen that but over 500$ ehh. Tl-s exhaust springs are only a few bucks plus i shldn't really be spendin anymore on my car for the next year. Need to do valve adjustment, timing belt in next year, gonna have a shop make me custom exhaust piping so its all 2.5", and ill need a new clutch within the next year, and my shocks have 8ok miles on them and 7 years on the car those wont last much longer. Damn im gonna end up spending more than my cars worth in under a year

what about the Intake springs? Or are just the exhaust springs important? Do the kits (like supertech) come with both intake and exhaust springs?

If i go with the 08 TLS parts, are just the exhaust springs needed? Or both? Also, are new retainers needed for the TL parts?

How much extra time is involved if doing a valve adjustment already, does the whole head have to be removed?

And if i buy the KMS parts, it doesnt matter that everything else internal is stock?

every thing else can be left stock inside.
u dont need to remove the heads to do the valve adjustment or to install the spring.
just have a compressor, take out the spark plug. get one of those compression testers, screw it into the spark plug hole, and hook up the compressor line to the other end. than the cylinder will have compressed air and the valve wont fall down, just make sure that ur at TDC so the valves are both closed
