No, the radar detector blacks out. All your info is displayed on the concealed display.

I like the benefits of the concealed display (other than being hidden):
1. Allows you to mount the V1 higher on the windshield without worrying how you are going to "view/see" it (theoretcially, better range and coverage)
2. You don't have to look high/right to look at the display, keep your eye on the road and glance at your speedo area
3. Your friends will give you a

Those were my top 3 reasons to buy the concealed display.

It's worth the extra money. No one at night will know you have a detector... It's a pretty sweet little gizmo.

I installed it myself, it's too easy. Very straightforward. Don't pay to install a radar detector.

I haven't had the need for the display for the 2+ years I had the V1. Yes it does black out the V1 display once connected. I didn't like that fact. I wanted the option of either one, or both. Don't really care if people can see it fom outside. In fact I don't think people have the eys to see it through my 15% tint anyway.

same here all they would see is a blurry red light trough my tint...but oh well, i do see the point of getting the display because it does help with longer coverage by being able to mount the detector higher up, just sucks that it blacks out.
